got it for $395/night. discounted from the regular price of $534/night.
3 nights : Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
It pays to wait to the last minute. Too many of you goofs make reservations too early and pay through the nose.

Got an extra bedroom near mile mark 22 and would charge less than $395/night. Can use my kitchen too!
put it on AirBnb.
It would definitely attract interest.
If it is at the 22 mile mark then it should be close to the green line train.
a definite plus.
I'm staying outside Hopkinton for $125 for one night and I don't have to get up early to wait around for an hour bus ride. Who drops $1200 on a race weekend in a second rate city?
How are you getting to the start?
Uber?
Being able to avoid the Athlete's Village for hours on end would seem to be ideal.
Some hotels near Hopkinton have a shuttle to the drop area for the other shuttle to the AV. You still have to get there early.
If you have to get back to the hotel after the race, the BAA return shuttles don't go to the hotel. If you rent a car, no problem, but the south street lots fill up so you have to get up earlier again.
Airport ride to Hopkinton is expensive. Return to airport is expensive.
There's no free lunch. You might get an hour extra sleep staying near Hopkinton, but you get lots of extra hassle and none of the excitement. They load the corrals starting at 9:10 am, so you need to be at AV by then, right?
no need to go to the Athlete's Village as it is 3/4 mile away from the corrals.
A person could just arrive at the toilet area near the corrals at the last moment.
not certain when or if the corrals close.

Sounds unimpressive.
I booked in January through Roomer and I'm at the Langham for around $300/night. Nice stroll to Boston Common to catch the bus on race morning.

That's an awfully generous of you to say that. Boston is a third rate city.
If only the real estate demand agreed

If you book very early though through Marathon Tours, i.e. the official race hotels, you can get really good deals. Last year the Hyatt Regency right next to Boston Common was $315/night. The official race hotels through Marathon Tours begin taking reservations a few days after the race for the following year, so if you know you'll be running next year, look for Marathon Tours to make an announcement late next week for 2019 reservations.

Who said anything about getting excited?
Quite the high horse you're riding.

The same kind of less-than-brilliant kind of person that spends $125 to stay in a hotel so he can participate in what has become a second rate fundraising event.
What charity will you be representing?

You can stay free at the Pine Street Inn in the South End.
Free bowl of soup and a cot in the dorm.
You overpaid. Priceline has that room for $324 for the same dates:
I booked way back in September. I'm only paying ~$3XX-something per night
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
