You will see just how wrong you are as soon as tomorrow, when the 5,000 final is run. Kenyans might not even make the podium.
Kenya is chicken to duck the Ethiopians anyway. Why can't the Ethiopians run?

See how the African poster names the African winner in the event, but yet again the Scottish and Aussie competitors just become nameless, faceless generic countries. May as well have said "some Aussie and some Scot".

3. Duncan Scott
Duncan Scott apparently has an entire country named after him.
Enjoying the thread, El K. Keep at it.
An Aussie in Alaska missing watching the CG

I suspect it has something to do with not being, or ever being, a member of the Commonwealth.
100m heats today and 5k final this arvo...getting keen! Morgan McDonald FTW!
Mo Ahmed is always near the top of the results in championship racing... not sure of his form this season but if its good he'll be right up there to battle for gold

Kenyan looking good in the 20 k walk. In a close 3rd after 11 k at 4 minute kilo pace.

How does an Aussie end up in Alaska? That climate can be too inviting.
Anyway, packed day ahead. In addition to the CG athletics programme starting, there are no less than twenty marathons and half marathons being run in cities across the world. Normally, I'd be interested in about half of those. But since I can't, I'll be giving the entire morning CG session a miss. I'll set my TV on Rotterdam while my Mac streams Paris. Hopefully both will be over before anything interesting happens on the Gold Coast. This is the first year I'll not watch my personal favourite Maratona di Roma, especially given a friend who lives on burgers and chips will be attempting it. Also, no Paris-Roubaix for me this year.
Copious cups of coffee should keep me awake.
^ Meant to say Alaska's climate can't be too inviting.
Results from the 20km walk from earlier (overnight in Kenya).

mainly I just wanted to say chicken, and accidentally said duck too, which made it even better.

Men's 5000m final coming up in a little over an hour. This is probably Kenya's weakest event (no one good wants to run the 5k) but hopefully we get a medal out of it.
Aussie Steve Solomon wins his 400m heat in 45.4
5000m up in 15 minutes.
It’s starting. Joshua Cheptegai to win ... easily!
This pathetically slow. And the Kenyan junior running wide in lane 3 isn’t the smartest.
Slow pace means everyone’s in this.
