OK so I just ran my first 10km Road race yesterday and I finished with a PR of 47.16 . I was expecting sub 45. I am kinda disappointed.
However the thing here is I trained intensely exactly just for 9 days with little body recovery in between .
The last time I ran 3- 5k was almost a decade back in High school.(we didn't have any sort of timing race so I don't know how fast I ran but I always ended up top 10). I used to win the 400m back in school (no timing proof) . Alcohol and smoke really disrupted my early 20's. I am 26 now. I recently started jumping ropes seriously like more than two months back. I would do 1000-1500 jumps almost daily along with body exercises like push ups, planks and stuff like that. But I never really trained myself to run until this recent 10k event which my cousin Bro encouraged me to take part.
So considering I did sub 50 by training for roughly 2 weeks (or perhaps jumping ropes for a month helped me as well) .
Do you guys think I have the potential to professionally run 10k?
I always wanted to take up Athletics seriously as a kid. I am a little depressed here considering how long I waited to chase my passion again.....
