My 16 year old daughter told me that in her high school, in the ladies room, people switch on the hand dryers to cover up the sound of their urination. Most interestingly, she said if girls are in the bathroom-hanging out and talking-and the dryer stops while someone is still urinating, most girls will stop urinating, and the girls outside the stall will restart the dryer as a matter of courtesy. I've also heard in restrooms without air dryers, the sink faucets are turned on for the same reason.
Couple Questions--Is this a generational thing, or is it confined to my daughters school?
Does it occur in Boy's restrooms as well?
Is this the weirdest thing ever?
I heard a decade or so ago that high school kids no longer took showers after gym class or athletic practices-and maybe that's an understandable, but smelly development in our culture. But this but this is just too much to take. I fear for the future of a society that is embarrassed to have tinkling sounds heard in a public restroom.
