Just curious what time would I need to run in the 400m to make a decent amount of income? And is it enough to sustain a living?

No if you plan on making money running the 400m.
49.85 + Real job should allow you to make a living.
I knew a guy who ran < 49.85 400m hurdles who worked at Sunglass Hut.
That doesn't make top high school teams...
49.85 is no joke. It means you have the speed to be world class at 5000m for sure. However, you may not have the endurance.
BUT...you have the speed to boast about your workouts on here like VIPAM.
Of course you can. You're a chick right?

If youre a girl
I went to high school with a guy who ran 46.7. In college (UCLA) he ran low 45 and was ranked #13 in the world. He went on to become a firefighter--made captain eventually.

Lol that's a good one.
If you can do sub 50 for 400m, you could make a good action scene in a film, where you are being chased, or chasing someone. It would make an epic piece of action. It would be like Tom Cruise chasing Jamie Foxx in Collateral, or Terminator 2 bad guy chasing the bike.
Probably one of my favorites is in Tremors where Kevin Bacon has to jump off the roof and run(about 400m) to get to the big truck. That is probably the best way you could make money. See if you can get a role in a low budget action film, and go from there.
You need to run about 44.5 in order to make a living.
If you can hit and catch sure. May even be able to get to second base sometimes.
If you're a girl, definitely. Alyson Felix runs that.
I assumed you meant as a rabbit for Diamond League 800s. If you can run 49.85 on the dot by yourself consistently, you'd be set. Just ask Matt Scherer! Though his 400 PB was 45.2...
If you can also throw the javelin 90+ meters, then I would say yes you can make 200-500k per year.
"Decent amount of money" and "running" ???
Cut your penis off and you can race Caster for the prize money.
If you are a female or in the Paralympics than maybe
if I run 49.85 for the 400m can I make a decent amount of money?
only if you plan on working as a Rickshaw driver.
cheers.
