Yeah, I know barefoot running is not necessarily a big thing anymore. But I've been running unshod more and more lately -- and it's such a revelation! I'm not slow, old, or injury-prone, but I can still say that the benefits in form that it has given me are amazing. It's so much easier to let your feet guide you to running better and not overdoing things than trying to constantly analyze your form to make sure you are running properly.
The opponents of barefoot running seem to be very numerous yet unjustifiably against it. Their arguments are almost always bad and they seem to simply be defending something they want to be true by making irrational counterarguments.
Most overuse injuries can be prevented with barefoot running. And for those who do get injured while barefoot running, it would not have happened if shoes hadn't weakened them and made them run badly in the first place.
It doesn't make sense. Why do nearly all of us still wear big clunky shoes? We don't even need to run barefoot all the time to reap the benefits. Doing the rest of your miles in a minimalist/racing shoe is perfectly fine too.
