Does this win make what everyone thought was impossible, possible. Will more 16 seeds actually try? Will more people watch the 16,1 games?

Honestly it’s kinda like a sub 2 marathon
Source: go to UMBC
No. Its more like Tom Byers winning the Dream Mile over Steve Ovett. Byers embarrassed a world class field that day but similar rabbit victories haven't become commonplace.
That said, Power 5 teams over rely on NBA type big bodies who rarely play more than two years before moving on. Mid-major teams have more consistent rosters and often actually have better team speed, chemistry, and basketball IQ. In neutral venue situations like the tournament, this can lead to "shocking" upsets that aren't really that shocking when you consider the true strengths and weaknesses of each TEAM. I do think at some point Power 5 teams will learn to balance out their rosters in a more sustainable way.
I see your point, but it's tough to compare a physical feat with a competition. That is, being able to perform at a certain athletic level is certainly a part of winning a game, but it's obviously far from the only aspect of everything that needs to come together.

For Basketball, does the Big East make it a Power 6?
I think it converts to a 3:55.81 so I would say so
Trackbot umbrella win over virginia

UVA isn't even all that talented. In this four or five year run of theirs that has culminated in a 1 seed and an epic loss to a 16 seeded commuter school, they have managed to produce exactly one more NBA player, Malcolm Brogdon, than has UMBC. Brogdon was a second round pick who won the NBA Rookie of the Year in a week year for rookies. He's essentially a solid rotation player. UVA does not have overwhelming talent.
More like the US beating the Soviets in 1980 in hockey

My calculations had it at 3:55.804 so we're very close to agreeing.
But UVA beat Duke and beat UNC twice this year and only had 2 losses. They were the number 1 seed by default.
College basketball has been going down the crapper for years with the one and done era so it was only a matter of time.
It helps that this was an alignment of the stars. A team that plays slow ball (UVA) against a team with the fastest guy on the court driving and scoring at will AND everyone else nailing 3s. It creates chaos for the defense.

I'm a big Bennett fan and did not have them advancing past the 3rd round. The one and done era has hit the quality of teams but coaching is as good as ever and matchup are exciting. Virginia's weaknesses were exploited. Great game by UMBC. This tournament, like everyone before it shows why college basketball is still a great game with the best post season t tournament of any sport.
