Say someone has a 160 IQ and is very well read and goes to graduate school in something like psychology. He/she is going to not only be far beyond all of his/her peers but also far beyond every or almost every professor in the department as well including his/her own advisor. How do professors feel about such students? How are they treated? My suspicion is that they would be constantly and relentlessly bullied and harassed (how outliers are treated pretty much everywhere in life), but neither being a genius nor a graduate student, I wouldn't know. Anyone have experience with this?
