Sequel came out over a year ago but I just recently watched. Original book and movie definitely impacted my early 20 views on individuality, friendship, and society at large. No, I never got into drugs or petty crime so save your moralizing.
Film sequel is disjointed and forced for much of the film. That said, the scene where Simon and Renton call each other out for their biggest mistakes after remembering Tommy hit me like a brick. If you have ever done something you can't make amends for, you know how it feels to carry that regret around forever. Also, Begbie giving his son permission to not be a criminal was a small moment of redemption.
The brief running scene is actually pretty humorous.
Any thoughts?
