De Niro in a run away

This is the only possible answer.
Similar styles, but DeNiro more range and better overall.
De Niro because he becomes the character--albeit the De Niro character, whereas I always see Al Pacino, the method actor, in his roles. Of course, it has been a long time since either was not just mugging for the camera and sleep walking through his roles.
Easily De Niro. Pacinos only great movie was Scarface. De Niro was in The Intern, Little Fockers, Dirty Grandpa, Righteous Kill, the list goes on...

Don’t forget Rocky and Bullwinkle.

ARE YOU NUTS??
DOG DAY AFTERNOON - one of his greatest roles
Michael in the GODFATHER!
NEEDLE PARK
SCENT OF A WOMAN
CARLITO's WAY
freaking GLENGARY GLENN ROSS
both in HEAT
pacino's greatest movie was scarface??...you have to be on something.
Hell, Pacino also played the better devil.
freaking SERPICO!
dude, you got me heated.
Pacino movies you left out that were really good:
Frankie and Johnny
Scarecrow
Cruising
But De Niro wins:
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Cape Fear
This Boy's Life
Jackie Brown
The Deer Hunter
God Father Part II
Once Upon a Time in America
Casino
Brazil (I know-small role)
The King of Comedy
Bronx Tale
Are there any other actors who have been in this many great movies?

QUALITY OVER QUANITY
for instance, pacino's devil in the DEVIL's ADVOCATE was way better than deniro's devil in Angel Heart. ...
Al Pacino stole the shoe from Deniro in HEAT, and in The Godfather
So Al Pacino's characters were way more powerful than Deniro's characters.
SCARFACE
SERPICO
GODFATHER
HEAT
DEVIL ADVOCATE....
Those characters were more emotional, and Al is the better emotional actor. Deniro is more reserved, and so are his characters
Who played the better gangster? Michael C and Tony Montana closes the show.
Both actors are in my top 5....but Al Pacino all the way.
Robert De Niro in 'Cape Fear,' Joe Pesci in 'Goodfellas,' Christopher Walken in 'At Close Range,' and Willem Dafoe in 'Wild at Heart' were all more convincing and scary than Al Pacino's over the top acting in 'Scarface.' Not that I don't like Al Pacino. He is definitely in my top five.
Robert De Niro
Robert Duvall
Jack Nicholson
Al Pacino
Marlon Brando
Pacino is the best at overacting.
Daniel Day Lewis finishes the length of the straight in front of both of them.

This combined with he became a caricature of himself. In every movie it became Al Pacino as Al Pacino. A good actor becomes the character and you forget who the actor is and just see the character... with Al Pacino, he’s always Al Pacino.
Neither one was much of anything. The only good film either was in was the Godfather series, and it wasn't their acting that made it good. They were never chosen for a film of that quality again in their long, A-list careers.

No way. Angel Heart was a great movie and De Niro's Lucifer was something special

Point taken. DeNiro is the only one of the three with any comedic range though. That has to count for something.
De Niro is more subtle but he's better. His facial expressions are iconic. Second only to Jack Nicholson.
Pacino does well in Dog Day, but John Cazale was better. Pacino does well in Godfather, but De Niro and Robert Duval were better. All his other movies are pretty much garbage so De Niro takes this one.
