Kipchoge is clearly the superior runner and I am pretty certain that he could beat Rupp.

I wish there was a betting market for this, seems like one could make a lot of money on that questions. Maybe on Augur some time soon.

didn't Rupp just run like a 13:34 5k as a workout indoors?

All depends on how long you give them to prepare. It's one thing to race a mile during marathon training, and another during indoor season where people work on speed. If they both had a month to prepare, who knows? I would still give edge to Rupp.

Title thread says they run the race today, so at most 16 hours or so to prepare...

Kipchoge hasn't raced on the track in years.

Rupp sits right behind him for the first lap, saladbar leans over for a hat change at the 400

Second lap kipchoge spikes rupp once, twice, a third time. 'Harder , daddy' is all we here from 2" off the inside rail and directly behind

Third lap saladbar calls out the pace, the elf acknowledges and takes a quick selfie

Fourth lap kipchoge announces "there's a whole road here, why don't you run beside me? And points to lane 2"

"That lane is 5.n meters further around the turns than the lane your in, and most of that delta in the turns. I will wait"

Off the first turn with 200m to go, rupp pulls along side kipchoge and asks him if he is going to have to do a set of 18x1 miles as punishment for missing the split on lap 2 like he is.

Kipchoge says his workout that evening involves meditation and a meal of twigs and rocks as this is his off cycle.

Kipchoge then closes with a 25 second final 200m and finishes in 4:20, pulse rate at 128
