You'd think distance runners could out run a cop, but i've still had plenty of teammates get minors. Anyone have a good/funny/dumb story about how they got their underage?

Me and a buddy who ran short sprints were day-drinking at a summer festival. He chugged a bottle of beer and chucked it down the street for some stupid a$$ reason and i guess a cop saw it cause they started yelling at us to come over to them. He takes off running so I take off running too. Now im a 5k runner so naturally this guy gaps me hard at first. Im thinking "shoot I'm gunna get caught! Im definitely getting a minor" but after about 200 or 300m of running away my buddy starts locking up HARD! I mean this dude hit quite the wall. I pull away fast and i'm long gone. My buddy on the other hand.... he locked up so hard after about 300m they pretty much just jogged up and grabbed him.
I once hid in a dryer. We were in a basement that had a cellar door to the outside but some girl was like "hide in the dryer" so my drunk arse was like yeh thatll totally work. Safe to say it did not
this didnt happen to me but a teammate of mine who was an All American in xc got tased when he tried to run away. He had a good lead on em but apparently the cop chasing him was freaking John Wayne with his taser gun. Seemed a little excessive to me.
At my college we run a beer mile after cc. Well the cops showed up half way through lap 2 and we all scattered, leaving behind like a 24 pack and a bunch of empty cans at the track.
That monday we all get called in to coaches office for a meeting and the campus security is there. They said they had dashboard footage of at least 12 guys in running shorts running away from the track where they found empty beer cans and a full rack of bud light that was still cold.
Since none of us were over 21 on the team at the time, like the whole distance team had to sit out the first week of track practice and we all got study hall for 3 months. No under-ages cause they couldn't "prove" which of us it was but our coach was not happy

A team from my school got busted doing a naked mile like 8 years back. They were also drunk and half were underage. Lots of court dates from that
At a house party I was at my freshman year a bunch of girls and me tried to hide in the attic while the cops filed everyone out down stairs. One girl stepped wrong tho and her leg went through the ceiling. You could hear the cops down stairs laughing like 'hey briggs come check this out! any idea where they could be?'

not as bad as when a bunch of people actually fell through the ceiling into the kitchen at UNC

Rolling a half-filled keg past the President's house on our way to another campus party.
I thought this was about picking up underage women
My, how things change! The cops would always show up at our annual naked mile, along with maybe 500 kids not on the team, but they always let us do our thing in peace. They were there to make sure nothing got out of hand, not to write tickets. This was back in the late 90s, early 2000s.
This thread has just reminded me how douchey some of the campus cops can be. It’s like hey, you’re basically a glorified mall cop a lot of the time. I get telling kids to knock it off, but writing tickets and getting people in trouble for harmless behavior just seems unnecessary.

Drinking age was 18 when I was in college.

We had one annually at UC Davis (I was 2004 to 2008). Well, we did a mile relay so the sprinters could enjoy it, too. We usually managed to get it organized at a house ahead of time, so we could just hit the track and start right away. Doing it like that we would manage to get the relay done right as the cops arrived.
Our experience was similar to yours, they would just tell us all to leave. We didnt have 500 random people show up though, more like 150 random spectators.
Anyway, one of my friends got caught fleeing the police one night at the bars because he thought it was a great idea to show that his steeple ability was better than the cops open (non steeple) ability. So he intentionally ran parallel to the road through a front yard with a picket fence rather than continue down the sideway. He made it into the yard fine, but on the second jump on the way out, he managed a massive faceplant. He had a bloody nose in his mugshot.
https://www.shorouknews.com/uploadedimages/Sections/Sports/original/ROLANDA-BELL-FAIL.jpgI had a friend get a minor at the hospital. There was a fight at a party we were at right in the middle of the crowd and they ended up getting cut when they got knocked into a window. Some random cop at the hospital smelled the booze that got spilled on him from the fight and wrote a ticket while he got stitches. Super crappy of him
Some guy I was somehow associated with half-way through college invited me to go bar-hopping the day he turned 21. He'd get a free drink everywhere, right? Five or six bars in, I'd had two or three and was starting to watch it, since someone had to drive. He had five or six, whiskey every time.
We hit another handful of bars, and I was sure he'd stumble back to the dorm or sleep it off on a bench. Trashed. Somehow, though, we ended up back at his (huge mid-70s) SUV because he was 'gunn dreev yuuuuu hoooooooommmmmmeeeee.' I was thinking I'd wind up with the keys or be driving soon enough, no way this dude was so dumb. That lasted about five seconds. Because we were driving about 60 in a 25, and were all over the road, front yards, sidwalks, through mailboxes, everywhere. We hadn't hit anyone yet, lucky for us, and at 1 a.m. not a lot of people were out.
Dude can not hear me, this is easily the worse place I can imagine myself right now, and we're at his dorm. Having driven over maybe 50 curbs, and through several trees. There's smoke coming from under the hood, the front wheels are farked, it's like a movie. We're both out of the truck, he's crying about what I great guy I am, and how he's such an idiot. Wait, 'dreeeving uuu hooommee,' right? He gets back in, I get in thinking I can somehow save him. We're off.
At this point, I've been punched maybe five times in the arm when I try and reach the ignition, and finally in the jaw. I'm simply terrified. We're nearing my apartment, when 10-20 cars along the sides of the road are a little too close, and he takes off a number of mirrors, knocks out a half-dozen or windows, and a bumper or two.
I didn't talk him into sleeping it off at my place or walking home from my apartment, he took off alone this time.
I ran the route we drove, backwards, early the next morning and saw what looked like the path a tornado took. I passed a few residents who were trying to leave for work, and looking at their damaged cars, I ran right past, trying not to be obvious.
Dude was in our shared class the day after, looked ragged. He said campus cops were waiting for him when he got back to the dorm parking lot. I never saw him in class, or on campus, after that.
After regions, we got super sloshed and went to Denny's. This was a terrible idea because as anyone who has ever been sober around a drunk person can tell you they are about 3x louder than they think they are. We were eating all-you-can-eat pancakes when a pair of officers who mustve been eating in a different booth came over and asked for I.Ds - sh!t...
When I was a freshman in college, I was just walking back from a party with a friend at around 1:00am when I realized "hey I have to piss." I could have gone to the dorm about a football field away, but nope I'm gonna pee in this bush. Of course, I get blinded by headlights about 10 seconds in and whoa and behold 2 campus cops quickly walk up. At this time I had a bad case of runners knee so I knew I wasn't getting away. Needless to say they asked if I had been drinking and I said "just a bit" (that's a lie, I was feeling pretty smashed). Ended up blowing a .13 or .15..can't remember.. and got a minor. Funny thing is, the head CC coach at my college told me at practice the next Monday to "be smart about what I do."
