Let me preface this by saying, I literally have almost no idea what I am doing, I don't speak the language yet... I will try and give as much information as I possibly can but... you're likely going to need to speak to me as if a small child.
I am in the military, have been for 15 years. I have never been a strong runner... in high school I played football and did track, but never anything over 300m hurdles. Also spent much of my freetime playing basketball at the local courts. I spent my entire life (to that point) building up my fast twitch muscle fibers and ignoring my slow twitch.
Then at 17 I joined the military. My general fitness and overall speed allowed me to fake my way through the 2 mile portion of the PT test, never running under 15 minutes... even when 17 and ~6% bodyfat, my best time was a 15:14.
Fast forward some years, I got ran over by a car, broken fibula... Eventually doctor tells me I am good to return to life as normal. I resume running but have much pain in following days. Eventually get 2nd opinion... bone is not fusing back together. Plate recommended. Get plate put on leg, causes severe(>80%) nerve damage in lower left leg. Stability gone.
Fast forward 3 more years... Time to finally get back to it and get into shape. Go to my "not so local" high tier running shoes store. They take all their measurements, watch me walk, etc... I give them my old shoes, they look them over and finally come to a decision. I have my new running shoes and I am ready to go...
They hurt... only when running, but the outside of my feet hurt. I run/walk on the outside of my feet and there seems to be some sort of cushioning there that eventually makes the "muscles"? on the outside of my feet wear out and start burning/hurting. Outside, slightly back from mid-line. I don't run much because of my leg, using mostly bike and uphill treadmill to get in shape... but every time I try and run I get the pain.
Sometime in the future (last week) I try and get a new shoes. Almost exact same issue... within the first mile the outside of my foot hurts bad enough that I can't run. Luckily unlike the last pair($180), this new pair is a $40 pair of New Balance from Hibberts... so I have no problem just chucking them.
However... I need something to run in. I need to be able to run. I need to get into "running" shape... I need shoes that help rather that hinder. I run on the outside of my feet, likely with terrible form, I heel strike terribly and just finished a bulk cycle and starting my cut, so I weigh in about 255lbs.
