Here's the hypothetical scenario: running has been a huge part of your life for more years than it hasn't. You love doing it. It's not drudgery. You love just running as much if not more then competing. Your social circle is mostly all runners. As such, People pretty much only seem to want to talk to you about running. Your life has in fact more or less been directed by running in some form or fashion. You get an injury that curtails it and told its in your best interest to stop but that seems unimaginable to you. You can be active in other ways but it is not the same.
