Why wouldn’t the lead runner simply “hold back” every couple yards so Rupp’s shins would get sliced up ?

While I find it odd that a coach would be obsessive enough to ride in a van and shout instructions during a race and an athlete to accept that kind of micromanagement, this is Galen and Alberto we are talking about here. They might have the oddest coach/athlete relationship in running. Alberto calls him "Son", for god's sake.
And I can't stand the drafting in a road race. When people do that to me, I start a slow zigzag or alternate speeds a bit. If they are going to use me for drafting, I will make them work for it or force them to take the lead if they want to run an efficient pace. Some guy ran about 10 meters behind me for an entire race this weekend, and it was annoying as F. Not sure if he was struggling to keep up or planned on making a late move, but I roasted him over the last mile, so whatever strategy he was employing didn't work.
If the race allows it, what's the problem?
Bunch of snowflakes on here. Do you own the patch of road behind you?

You can clearly see how Rupp is running in a leagal yet very dirty tactic, sitting on the leader’s tale like an Alabama tick, I hate when runners do that, it’s so dirty. You could see it bothers the leader, he tried to get rid of him a few times moving to the side, but Rupp just kept riding on him like a leach. Kipchoge hates runners that do that to him, he always marks them to move a side or to go forward and run their own pace by pointing with his finger to them. He did that to Lelisa and to Adola in Berlin.

Haha who cares? Rupp won this race by almost a minute. This doesn’t matter in the slightest because no matter how the race went, Rupp would have dominated either way.
butchurt is just mad that he is not packing much in the package department. I shared many showers with him at NAU this winter and the guy is seriously lacking. in fact, he is the proud owner of a swedish made pump if you know what i mean.
Don't take it out on RUPP!!!!
At one point great video of Galen drafting on the leader (and really annoying him), with Alberto shouting tactical advice from the van.

No, out of context. This wasn't Kipchoge telling Adola to run next to him. This was Kipchoge motioning to Adola that he was trying to run on the blue line when Adola kept bumping into him. Adola didn't seem to understand the blue line. Later in the race Kipchoge was running on the blue line and Adola was slightly ahead but running on the completely opposite side of the road, absolutely ignoring the tangent line. This was Kipchoge essentially telling Adola he was running like an idiot.
as I remember didn't Adola stay where he was and didn't give in to finger pointing?
Does Alberto really call him son?
Does Galen call him Daddy?

Yes. Some women have a sugar daddy, but this chick has an EPO daddy
Rupp being a sitter who rides on others’ tails trying to use them for drafting and to annoy them by clipping their feet is a good enough reason on its own to hate him. If somebody ever did that to me, I would use this solution:

This is what needs to be done to sitters like Rupp

Por favor. It's called racing, ya knucklehead. What, you think running behind somebody is somehow unethical? If that's the case, track runners are all a despicable bunch. Maybe roads should be made wider so the whole field can run abreast.
Besides, it's not as if he sat on the leader and blew by him in the last 200. He won by almost a minute, so he ran solo the last several miles.
What are you little nasties going to whine about next? His haircut?

He’s hair cut is a good enough reason to hate him. And he’s not just running behind people. Take a look at what Meb told that leach:
https://youtu.be/p7sF3uAgQ0wWe can assume that Alberto worked it out with the race organizers to allow it, so that's the kind of clout you get if you put the best athlete in the race.
I think drafting is the chump thing to do, but at an elite level it's basically dumb not to draft. I wouldn't tell my athlete to run in lane 2 and in a 13.1 mile race I'm not going to tell my athlete to lead or run side by side, either.
Alberto's career is over after Rupp. Rupp is so deep in his shadow that I can't see Rupp ever meaningfully giving back to the sport in his later years, but I hope he proves me wrong.
That actually makes it worse. Why run like a pvssy when you are the better runner?

His coach riding next to him all the way in a van shouting instructions to him like this is some kind of tempo run training session. I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this. It looks like the sub2 project where they used to ride next to Kipchoge, but that was an experiment not a so called race. In Boston he’s gonna have his EPO daddy next to him in a van too? What is this, some privilege white Americans get over east Africans?
Did you also notice his high heel shoes? Wonder how much foam/plate spring action there is in those.

Using Nike's 4%, 4% of Rupp's time is about 2:23.
If you believe Nike, without the special shoes, Rupp is a 62:10 half marathoner.

Much appreciated! Interesting to see Andy Butchart throwing shade at Galen today on his IG story.
You call that throwing shade? Andy Butchart's post was nothing but immature and unprofessional. No doubt he is just upset that Galen keeps winning races while Andy wheels around on his scooter.
We are thinking about implementing a new LRC policy. Please don't reference IG, twitter, etc without providing a link. The average person doesn't want to have to go find it. A big point of a website and forum is to save people time.
Can someone tell me what Butchart said about Rupp today on IG?
