Welcome to LRC.
You'll get more responses with "Is New Balance 1400 good for runners"
I ran my first marathon in the 1400's. I used them for everything from track workouts to the marathon. I like the 10mm drop that they have. I was using the 1400V4 Decided that I liked them and wanted to try them for the marathon. I got a size 10.5 which was what I had been using for all the other 1400's I had owned. I can tell you that the 10.5 in the 1400V5 felt snug on me. I decided to use them anyways even after wearing them for a half and thinking to myself that they were to small. Needless to say at mile 20 I came to the full conclusion that they were in fact small. All in all, if you are a pretty light runner the 1400's should hold up for you. I exchanged the pair I had run the marathon in and got a size 11 in the 1400V5. They fit great.
tl;dr (if you are a pretty light runner they should work for you. Might want to go up a size as the feet get swollen in the marathon)
I do all my training and racing in them and have for a few years. Ran a few marathons in then last year and didn’t have any issues. Hoping to break 2:40 in Boston for what it’s worth.
the foam doesn't last many miles so don't do your easy runs in it
I ran a road 50k in them; actually, it was even a brand new pair straight from the box. I'd loved the previous pair so much I knew I needed a fresh pair for the race. It was a good gamble. The v5 fits true to size on me (women's 9--maybe the women's last is more accurate if the guy above was having fit issues with the v5?).
For reference, my favorite marathon/ultra shoe before the 1400 was the now discontinued Mizuno Hitogami and before that was the Brooks T7. Also, I'm rather lightweight with a low stride, and midfoot-to-heel striker mostly. No injuries of note in years and all my training is done in flats similar to those already mentioned.
The 1500 is more of a marathon shoe for non-pros. The 1400-1600 are more for shorter distances, I do all my speed work in 1600 v2s.

Mizuno Hitogami are still in production
We're still fine tuning our better shoe review site so you all can't see this but I went and looked up what people said about the shoe and whether they mentioned the marathon.
Two people who reviewed it mentioned the marathon and they liked it. Here's a sneak peak:

First reviewer above is a woman, 2nd a man.
If you've got a shoe to review, we'd love to get an official review here:

Awesome if that's the case! I was told the Hitogami 4 was it, and no new colorways/on sale on the US Mizuno site suggests so. I think the Sonic is replacing it here. I'd love to be wrong, though!
And wejo, I spent almost 30 minutes yesterday trying to officially review the 1400 but your form kicked me out and lost all my info. It's not you, it's me for expecting Letsrun to work any better than when I first started coming here in 2001 ;-) (I'll try again when I have time though, it's cool).
Anyway OP, hope you end up with success using the 1400!
