Can they do it and win all three? I think that they have a good shot.

Depends if Bishop Shanahan runs with their new transfer.
Even with him I think that LV can pull out something and come for the win. I also think that they will set new records in the DMR and 4x1600.
I'm surprised they didn't throw Peter Morris into the 4xMile, just to have some fresher legs.
Bishop who? wrote:

Shanahan would have two guys with PRs 4:08 and faster. I don't think LV could hang in the DMR.
How is "Loudoun" pronounced?

Thanks.
Agreed. Maybe they should only have Morris and Affolder alternate legs for each relay. 4xmile: Morris-Affolder-Morris-Affolder
Ha. I mean, Morris does excel at the longer distances...
Heat sheets are released now. Bishop Shanahan is not doing the DMR

In each of the 3 relay A teams, Loudoun Valley has only one senior. So next year looks good too.
They also have a B team in the 4x1600 that includes 2 seniors, a junior, and a sophomore.
I guess Morris was put on the B team for 4x1600 because he got 5th in the 1600 at the state meet and LV went 1-6 in that race

Who the fuçk cares?
It is statistically less white when compared to the US population as a whole and is nearly a quarter foreign born. While Loudoun isn't as diverse as an inner city, it is certainly not exclusively white. LVHS is more homogenized than the average school in the district (~80 percent white) but it is also in the more rural part of the county.
Loudoun is rich and subsequently expensive as hell though; can't deny that.

Other schools in the VHSL that are at a disadvantage who compete against them.
Disadvantage because they are a mostly white school? Or because they are in a wealthy area? Not a whole lot of sprint/jump power at Loudoun Valley. That could be seen as a disadvantage too.
Barely any non-distance LV boys were participating at the indoor state meet and LV won by 52 points as a team.
Yep, like I said, not a lot of sprint/jump power at LV. Their sprint relays do usually make the state meet, but not a lot of individuals. They appear to be compensating well. Pretty unusual for a distance squad to win a state meet by that many points. I still wonder why the other poster thinks other schools in the VHSL are at a disadvantage when they race against LV, other than the fact they have a deep distance squad. Not sure why all that socioeconomic stuff was mentioned. Most distance powerhouse schools are predominantly white suburban schools, middle or upper middle class communities, aren't they?

I'm a VA miler from a poor high school in a mostly white, rural area- no sprint power, no distance power at our school. Last year we had to fundraise to afford a tent, so we could have shade at meets. It's not that LV exactly has an unfair advantage. In places like my county the issues the school faces and the culture of the area means that very few people care at all about running (especially xc). That means that they don't care if the coaches are doing a good job or failing to bring water to practices and skipping weekend meets to work at their barbecue business. Additionally our school has had a couple distance coaches move through for only one season. They aren't paid enough- if anything- for the challenges of a small team with very little success in a comparatively large division. That's the reason that most distance powerhouses happen to be affluent areas. Good for them. They're obviously working hard and smartly in addition to having struck gold with their current group of runners (the luck of Affolder's transfer to LVHS didn't hurt). It's just a shame that many of the schools they face are so much less able to utilize and train their talent due to the economic shortcomings of many programs.
You have a tent! My VA team is jealous. Sigh.
Yeah, that's why the socio-economic stuff was mentioned.
