Now winds from the SW. Sounds like a direct tailwind.

Just wait until wind changes direction again tomorrow
Boston area has been in a long period of below average temps, high winds, and precipitation. Expected to break mid-April, where jet stream will shift and we'll get a rush of warmer temps. Likely to be marathon weekend, which should be beautiful. Be prepared for 60s temps and pray for a tailwind or light cross breeze.
Last year, the talk all week was high temps offset by a significant tailwind. The tailwind showed itself in 2-3 spurts for a combined 10 seconds & the whole field got cooked in the sun.
Nobody will know anything until we’re running it
uh oh:

Wait till Saturday or Sunday, the 14th or 15th, till you make a doomsday prediction...even though that is far from awful conditions.
16th is 11 days away wrote:

Sounds a lot like 2015 which was not terrible. Best of the last 3 years.

Agreed. I've never heard some much negativity about the weather almost 2 weeks out. It's maaaaadness man!
10 days out. I find that the app Dark Sky is very accurate, they only predict about 5 days out but it's usually right on I think it's like 3 bucks.
46/51 F, wind W 14 mph gusting to 34. Now wouldn’t that be lovely.

Gusts 34 miles per hour ??????? That God Ryan Hall prayed to must be making a return visit.

This far out the wind forecast is meaningless. I'd say it means nothing until 48 hours from race time.
Most years the forecasts over a week out call for tailwinds, but they rarely actually happen.

It's not meaningless anymore. They can predict wind storms pretty good these days within 10 days. We're within 10 days. The forecast is becoming legit.
It says NNE wind now. Awful. Where will the roulette ball land tomorrow?
9 days out. Current Boston Forecasts for marathon Monday:
Accuweather: 40/52, cloudy, NNE 10 mph w 28 mph gusts
Weather Channel: 43/50, showers, W 16 mph
The National Weather Service climate maps predict slightly below average temps for Boston thru 4/16.
Completely opposite wind predictions by two sources. At least the temps are both cool.
I did a rough analysis of finishing times and the weather on past Marathon Mondays days and created a web application that calculates weather-adjusted Boston marathon times. It's at the following link:

Conditions are looking great based on the current Wunderground forecast: 47 degrees at 10 AM with 13 mph winds from the west. I estimate this could take off 5 minutes for a 3hr marathoner!
Looking forward to hitting the Olympic trials qualifier next Monday. My goal was 2:24 but if I am in that shape the tailwind and cooler temp should take me to the finish in around 2:19 I am super excited for monday!

I like it. Well done.
Way too early. Pray for tailwind.
