This might be the most ridiculous post I've ever seen on letsrun hahahahah
Ever whatch a basketball game, football game, hockey game, or even soccer? How many time have we all seen those sports coachs push and talk game to eachother, get into fights, technicals issued actually threw a punch, get thrown out etc. Wonder if every time we see that on tv the other coach pulls out a cell phone? Guess college kids have never seen the same sporting evenys on espn I have. Stop making track look like a nerds sport full of geeks who have to cry when the get pushed down. Sounds like someone wants DeGrado to look bad just out of spite and or deflect that it was way made into to big of deal and it was a jerk move to call the cops. No one cares unless it was a really fight and clearly it wasnt.

I don’t know this man, just like I don’t know anyone on here posting “anonymously”. I just hold COACHES (no matter the sport) to a standard. Getting arrested is unacceptable.
If the man is innocent and he was arrested and booked on false pretenses then I’m sure he will prevail. But stop pretending that the accusations came from nowhere. I’ve read multiple post saying there was an altercation and multiple post saying there was only a shove. Both unacceptable
As an attorney I am tired of all the comments about the law just to stop some of this. Lets not try to play the judge almighty and convict. Looking at ONLY proven facts. A well known coach was taken into custody on assault allegations and knowing first hand the Texas system in no way has he been convicted of anything this may take several months. Defiention of assault a threat that causes FEAR OF bodily harm to a victim. As people pointed we do know that assault was what he was booked on, NOT assault and battery which is defined as causing physical harm. These definitions can be easily googled and proven as fact. So the FACTS of the situation tell us a man was taken in custody for causing fear of harm to another person. To receive this charge only the victim could press charges does not prove he called the police but he did request the charges be filed. If there had been any even very small signs of physical harm there is no choose by either party the charges become assault and battery. The charge of a class C misdemeanor assault in Texas carries a fine up to $500 IF convicted. These are the only facts as of right now that can be proven and are not based on different points of view.
Ive got we all go to the NJCAA and say all coach staffing of every sport needs to show college kids how to act. Any coach at any event has to have the police called if there is "cause of fear" (can not prove there was a "push" not one of those facts everyones big on). Than have people talk about how they should be banned and get fired. Im pretty sure every football, basketball and soccer coachs would love that idea but hey maybe golf will side with us on this. Really hope some of you bashers have the guts to go to your ADs tell them any football basketball badeball or soccer coach needs fired asap and charges filed everytime they talk smack push or cause fear during a game. Know for a fact my AD would laugh me out of his office.

People interpret things however they want because clearly no one said talking smack is fireable. This post is laughable
Finally. This is well explained
The fact that so many of you don't expect more from someone responsible for the safety and mentoring of young people is despicable. As a parent I would reserve judgement until the details come out but if I found out this Coach was in anyway guilty then at the least I'm pulling my kid out of the school
your kid in grade school oh guess what even grade school sports have coachs go at...keep trying coach altercations happen in every sport on every level.

Not altercations that lead to arrest. As mentioned before arrest are not a good look no matter the circumstances. - PS- naming yourself noonecares and then responding to a post shows that you actually do care lol
have to say good luck finding a school with sports that has never had any of their coach get in some sort of altercation with another coach best keep the kid home until they are 40. I agree everyone should respect eachother which if we could all not enjoy this drama so much would mean showing respect for everyone and not posting but we all looking to get under someones skin here
Clearly his athletes and friends on here in defense lol
And former athletes

Don't need luck. Not hard to find a mature coach who can handle there emotions. Matter of fact MOST coaches are mature professionals. Poise under pressure is a good trait to have. That goes for coaches and athletes.
DeGrado you got the hens feathers all in a ruffle. You better believe DeGradoand most definitely has friends and athletes whom are on here! We love you DeGrado and we know you shouldnt of pushed the guy doesnt mean we love you any less. Dude does need his man card revoked. Every person has a time in there life where they mess up act a fool this does not mean all the good things they have done for others is undone or should not be shared because some people delight in others mistakes and only want to keep focus on the negative. So you better believe DeGrado has loyalty nothing you say will deflect from that or will change the fact athletes current and former and friends are proud of our coach love him and are loyal to him even when he pushs someone :)
Lets leave BOTH coaches alone it was between two men and only two. Everyone gets it one coach looks bad for pushing other looks bad for taking it to far. Both are probably good people and don't deserve any of this let them just go on about their lives.
smartest thing said leave both of them alone. Dont know either pearsonally. What I see if you pull all the finger pointing and you need to act this way out you see two coaches whom must love this sport with the passion and emotion they showed and both where going to act and protect their athletes not giving two cents what anyone else thought about them. Saying it like that isnt as fun or dramatic shows they both love their sport and team. I second no reason to assume either is a bad person or deserve faceless cheap shot posts about them or their schools programs let them be and mind your own.
I spoke to Degrado earlier today on the phone and he's doing just fine. He doesn't regret defending his athlete after the 800m. He emailed me his incident report but requested I not share it. But he said he has 4 separate incidents that were documented with witnesses where members of Trinidad State and coach were stirring the pot and trying to start something because of the DMR ruling. Trinidad protested to get Allen DQ'd, then Degrado countered protested based on his interpretation of the rule and won. So that is where this drama began, degrado said. So all day Friday Degrado said he was constantly hearing from his athletes about Trinidad either running their mouths making little remarks when they walked by and even going as far as showing up to Allen's team camp in order to intimidate them. Trinidad's coach even confronted degrado after the DMR and was being lippy Degrado said. Basically Degrado told him "you better get out of my face and why would you protest you beat us, thats just a b.itch move". Basically said masterson was being a tough guy about the whole thing. The final straw and he said the video will show it hes seen the video multiple times. It shows masterson jog past anthony after the 800m saying something and Degrado caught him. Degrado then shoved him where masterson got up, told him "WTF, you want some" Degrado said yes and walked up to him again and shoved him down. Yelling stay the 'F' away from my athletes i'm tired of your '$hit' you know what you did. Then causally walked away. Degrado did say he's pretty embarrassed and feels like an 'a$$hat' direct quote there, but doesn't regret it one bit nor would handle it differently. He rather of been the fall guy then have one of his athletes do something that might cost them their future before it started. He just got tired of all the extra stuff and at some point every person breaks he said. He did say the police officer didn't believe masterson when he told him that he was choked and punched in the face because there was no marks. Degrado pushed him twice, never planned on hitting him. Wasn't surprised he was arrested because quite frankly that whole team seemed like they were all about that action until it was brought to them. I guess afterward Anthony confronted Derek and gave him a piece of his mind. Derek wanted no part of that and was back pedaling. Said he's ready for NCAA to begin so this blows over and give people something else to talk about. Feels embarrassed because he knows that his haters finally got something negative to use that wasn't made up, but when you look at the big picture it doesn't make what he did right by no means but at some point we only can be pushed so far.
I'm sure this will only fuel some peoples fires but for others who might be interested in it for the right reasons there you have it. Also, the incident report was very descriptive(3 pages) and provided a lot of answers to how it came to this.
