great run by schweizer (she got the baton 11 seconds down), but in no way shape or form is this any sort of collegiate record. Im guessing you are referring to her being faster than the 4:25.91 run by Jenny Barringer, but that was a mile (not 1600) and run with a standing start. Schweizer was 1600 and with a running start (and lot of people to chase), so please dont even attempt to compare the two.
Too bad she doesn’t have a bit more support. It would have been fun to get a team squeaked in to see her run from behind at nationals. Curious to see what events she runs.
Wow. Continues to impress. Kurgat who?

Her 4:27 mile converts to a 4:25 1600 and with a rolling start more like 4:24. She should be expected to run 4:25 as a DMR split, especially with the advantage of runners to chase. Any slower would be abject failure.
Karissa is an adorable running goddess.
I’d like to see Schweizer take on Purrier.

That is pretty much guaranteed. Neither is running the DMR and the mile is before the 3000 on Saturday, and Purrier's best chance of a title is the mile. So both fresh for the big showdown in the mile!

That assumes schweizer goes for mile/3K instead of 3K/5K. I haven't seen any indication as to plans yet.
Is coach crazy enough to put her in all 3? She may win 2.
Can always scattch the third
And people here are so ridiculous, I remember after xc all you all did was say how overrated and how much of a choker she was
Pretty amazing that she could be considered the favorite in the mile/3k/5k. That's what we call legendary.
Will she be a Bowerman babe next year?

I could even see her possibly winning all three, since the 3K is her best event and she has 1:40 to recover after the mile. The biggest challenge would be facing Purrier in the mile and 3K on day 2 since Purrier won't have run the 5K. Winning all three would require four races in two days and would put her in "King Ches" territory.
She'd be best going to Freedom TC with molly seidel . Seidel' stunning has taken off , and even though Karissa is the faster runner she could become even better training with a longer-distance runner like molly.
Also Erin Finn would be smart to make this choice too.

But the third is the 3k. There's no way she's going to scratch a race that she's the collegiate record holder in and has the best shot at winning. Purrier in the mile and Kurgat in the 5k will be harder than any challengers in the 3k (Purrier is mile > 3k, and Kurgat is 5k > 3k). This is why I think she's just going to double 5k/3k.
The moderate recover time after the mile (1:40) and having to go all out against Purrier, Jones, Cranny, Aragon, Burdon, Hull will be tough. And while Purrier and Jones seem to be the only ones who could provide a solid challenge, they won't make it easy. In the 5k, Kurgat is the only worry, and she can just use her kick because she already has the strength to go 15:10-15:15. Then a full day recovery as opposed to Purrier being tired from the mile, Kurgat/Kelati being just as tired from the 5k, and Aragon/Hull/Burdon/Ostrander/Hiltz being tired from DMR, mile, or both. The only challenger I could possibly see is Fraser (8:59) if she skips the 5k, but that would require Kurgat to make it a 15:10 race in the 5k doing all the work.
2 NCAA Titles, same difference whether it's mile/3k, just an easier path. No triple.
For sure the 3K/5K is the easiest combo, but champion athletes don't always go for what's easiest. My gut tells me that Karissa will want to take on Elle and Dani in the mile (looks like Karisa Nelson is out for the season).
Doesn't seem like the mega-mileage overtraining type.
She meets the criteria in my view.

if i had to wager, i would say she does end up with bowerman next year.
As far as her tripling at NCAA's, burns seems to be pretty conservative with how often he races her, so that would really surprise me. Im inclined to think it will be mile/3k, but wouldnt be a shocker to see 3k/5k.
