I've been running for about 1 year and 3 or 4 months and my 100m and 200m times are 13.2 and 27.5 respectively. I've touched on sprints (a random 100m or 200m time trial every month) once a week the past 5 or 6 months while focusing on a very light training schedule for the 800m/1600m; off this training I ran 13.2/27.5. (I ran 13.28 today but it was in 0-1 degree Celsius weather whereas my original pb was set in the summer)
I was wondering if it's possible to lower these times down closer to 12.5 and 26 in the next 4-6 months off 800m training as I feel my speed will become a constraint on improving my middle distance times if I don't improve in the sprints. This will mean just having one top-end speed/sprint workout of 50m-150m a week with the other runs being easy/tempo/reps@mile or 800m pace...etc)
Would really appreciate any help/opinions/insight on this. Thank you

My pb is pretty damn slow for 800m as well and it's probably because my mileage has only been on average probably less than 15mpw with 6 months of that being easy jogging and the occasional set of strides, and accordingly I am aiming to raise my mileage when I start building base but I still feel that my speed is going to be a limiting factor to further improvement. I'm currently probably capable of running 2:25 or a tad faster in the 800.
