Hi,
I'm a woman in her 40s who wants to get a PR in the 800m next I indoor season. I figure I only have a few years to really focus on this as I will be 45 in a few years, and I figure then or son after will start the inevitable decline. I have never focused solely on the 800, instead focused on mile with a few 800s sprinkled in. PR is 2:20 from 2 years ago. I want to break 2:20.
My question is, are there any books/training resources that can help me to create a training year that will optimize my chances at reaching my goal? I'm looking for both strength training/plyometric progressions and running, with advice on base phase progressing into specific 800m training at the appropriate time.
Thanks in advance!
