Sure it's not straight up cheating, but dude who won got to practice the course for the last 4 years non-stop. Other athletes got a few preview runs. I mean it's not really a sport anyway so who cares, but just seems a bit unfair.

Why is it not a sport?
What is it about it that disqualifies it from being a sport?
It's called home field advantage. Do you think the Americans did not practice on the ski runs, bobsled courses, luge and skeleton courses, etc., when the Game were in Salt Lake City? Or the Canadians when the Games were in Calgary? The Russians in 2014 in Sochi? Of course they do. It is legal and is not cheating.

Yeah, of all the stupid "sports" in the Winter Olympic, at least this one is decided only by a clock and not judges giving lame ass style points

Still don't get why it's more or less stupid than something like football.
Any explanation?

It's more stupid than footall because virtually everyone that does it (very few) only do it for the chance of being in the Olympics.
Non-stupid sports like football or running, 100 thousands of people do all the time for the inherit fun and/or health benefits, not because there the only person in the world able to practice on the course....

Maybe less people compete in it, but that doesn't change its ranking as a sport. The typical American thing to do is to instantly slander any competition that isn't normal or regular. It's a competition, with rules, and involves a physical skill or ability (i.e, a sport).
People play football for the healtyh benefits? Dementia, brain damage, concussions, nerve damage, hip and knee replacements, frozen shoulders are health benefits?
its no coincidence the mens skeleton has been back in the Olympics 4 of the 5 winners have been from that home country

He clearly says "and/or", implying that not both features apply to both sports. If you're going to be pedantic, at least be right.

Skeleton is like extreme closed course sledding. Pooploads of people sled for the fun of it. My younger self would have jumped at the chance to try skeleton. But maybe not the doubles. That looks kind of queer and way less fun. But so does 75% of an MMA fight, so whatever.

Football......health benefits? Really?

It's ok with me if they cheat. It's their Olympics--they should get something for their trouble.

Yes - health benefits.
Have you ever participated in football? Not everyone is getting concussions or other injuries and, believe it or not, physical exercise (lifting, sprinting, jumping, pushing heavy things, even yoga) is healthy. Twoadays over summer - where we couldn't even hit each other - had me more fit than almost any other point in my life.
Saying football doesn't have health benefits would be like saying running doesn't and referencing stress fractures, skinny physiques and future knee problems. Don't be silly.

I'm not sure about Calgary, but the other two were built right before the olympics, so they didn't get a bunch of practice on the course ahead of time.

Probably has something to do with the fact that you lay down and don’t move your body.
No, they most certainly didn't cheat. To suggest otherwise just shows that you're a sore luger.

Thanks for that, Dad.
