Did you read the indictment or any of the news stories, beyond the that outlined the specific crimes that were committed. Let me give you the Cliff Notes version:
- Committing wire and bank fraud while moving money under false pretenses.
- Failing to register expenditures to the Federal Election Commission, or register as foreign agents with the U.S.
- Identity theft: stealing the identities of real Americans to impersonate US voices online and hide their tracks. This includes stealing American victims' sensitive details including their names, birth dates, social security numbers and home addresses to speak in their names online and launder payments for their social media ad buys.
