Wondering if anyone had suggestions for lightweight racing flats for a trail 50k.
Want to shoot for a decent time.
The course has a ton of sharp turns (like 180 degree turns), decent amount of elevation change (550 ft hill twice and some 100-200ft hills), mostly groomed trails but still quite a bit of rocks, stairs, roots, woodchips, gravel, etc. The turns mean I need a lot of traction.
I've run two trail 50ks before and both of them have been in zoom streak xc 3 (basically identical to zoom streak LT 3s) but my calves and legs were pretty shot after 25 miles. I train in primarily lightweight, minimalist shoes, and racing flats and am fairly small (5'5, 120 lbs).
My initial thoughts are something like the kilkenny or some other XC flat, or Zoom Speed Rival 6. Basically, what are the fastest trail shoes out there? Thoughts?
