The answer is probably to get rid of the FBI. Probably the CIA too. After that, we should get rid of the US Military, then local law enforcement. They are always making mistakes so we'd be better off without them all, right?.

I am betting the FBI gets 500,000 useless tips for every one that leads to some crime. Based on manpower, they probably have less than 5min to look at each one. Some are going to slip through the cracks if there are not other tips or crimes to back it up. Could be better, but it could probably be a lot worse too.

Yes, and similarly, here's a report on FBI personnel who've been in the news lately regarding the "Russian Dossier:"

FBI’s Strzok and Page misused a so-called "Russian Dossier" that they knew had no credibility to obtain a warrant to spy on an associate of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and during Trump’s initial days as a sitting president.

This dossier was created by the same opposition research firm (Fusion GPS) that was hired by Planned Parenthood in 2015 to perform a "forensic analysis" on the undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, which showed evidence that Planned Parenthood was involved in the illegal trafficking of aborted baby remains and other crimes. That "analysis" falsely stated that the recordings had been deceptively edited and were not reliable as evidence in court.

Not only do the FBI’s Strzok and Page texts contain evidence of their attempts to influence the outcome of a presidential election, but those sent during the 2016 March for Life also demonstrate hatred for anti-abortion activists and a desire to abuse their authority to "cancel the permit" for the pro-life event in Washington, DC.

The FBI's Strzok and Page are rabid abortion advocates who discussed using their authority to stop our JumboTron screens from showing abortion victims.

In these recently released profanity laced text messages, Strzok and Page complain about Created Equal's "offensive video screens" saying, "I truly hate these people."

This demonstrates the extent to which abortion advocates are willing to go to cover up abortion, and now the bias seems to have reached our highest levels of law enforcement.

Given that there is zero evidence of a crime by the Trump campaign, the FBI has expended some much manpower they could have solived the Jimmy Hoffa murder by now.

I actually believe the FBI planted an informant in the Trump campaign — before Mueller was appointed, obviously.

RUSH: I’m gonna try to make sense of all this as the program unfolds today, but I just wanted to tell you. I would not be surprised if, in fact, the FBI planted an informant in the Trump campaign in order to try to prove this Russia collusion business. RUSH: Now, I want to turn to what I think may well in fact be the FBI having planted an informant in the Trump campaign, back in 2016.

And I’m not really even reading that much between the lines.

So as a hypothetical, if the FBI had hired a foreign spy and implanted them in the Trump campaign — whatever this spy, whatever this informant reported could have ended up in the FISA warrant application along with the dossier — then I doubt even a court would require the name of the informant to be identified simply because of the risk we would run endangering relationships with the foreign government that the informant happened to be a citizen of.

The Washington Post probably does know who it is. They will not inform. Trump could end this today by declassifying all of this. But he doesn’t. Why doesn’t he? (IMO: he's playing 9-dimensional chess on them...) We’ve explored that on previous occasions, and I’ll go through it again if you want. But the point is this, these people — Mueller, the FBI, The DOJ, Strzok, Page, Comey, McCabe — it is absolutely incredible but it may well be that they believed this!

It would be sort of like writing letters to deny clemency to former informants that you framed, just like Mueller in his previous cases!

Plus, the another angle.

Insurance policy, setup, framejob, who cares what you call it? And all the inner circle (Mueller, Comey, ) are "pros" at this game, many times before.....

You always hear the talking heads say "the rank and file are great, it's just the leadership that's corrupt and bad". Their track record shows they are all failures, whether it's preventing terror attacks or rigging elections. They literally are able to spy on every american and they can't stop these attacks.

I see the thread is already flying off at various tangents but I will try to give you a direct reply to your question.

I suspect the issue is fundamentally one of manpower ( or person power for the PCs). The FBI, and other agencies probably get several thousand tips a day. These can range from, "my neighbour owns a gun and looks weird" to "I heard a group of men talking in a foreign language" I am sure 99% get discarded after just reading the first sentence. To follow up further would require a significant increase in manpower, and hence funding, and hence taxes. The of course there will be all the administrative staff to support these extra case workers. Now somebody could say it is worth it if it stops one attack. However, society places a rather low value on human life, think how many lives we could save if we have a national 5 mph speed limit. Ultimately the public has a certain toleration for sudden death, usually with the assumption that it will happen to someone else, not them.

The second issue is in our society somebody must have either committed a crime, or be actively about to commit one, before they can be arrested and charged. If just hinting at doing something radical,or shooting your mouth off, was a crime then half the LetsRun posters would be behind bars. And it's not just LetsRun posters, a former Canadian Prime Minister once said of a satirical magazine, "I wanted to take a gun and go down there and do some serious damage to those people." He was not arrested.

Having said that I do feel the FBI is not as advanced as many of the European or Israeli agencies in processing tips. But as the agencies get better at busting the planned attacks they still have to find a way to deal with the lone wolf attacks. Especially if the individual only made their mind up to do it the day before,

It’s funny to hear all of the armchair experts of the FBI that have emerged in the last year. My wife is in the Bureau and I get a chuckle out of how much posters will display their ignorance to try to score political points, which ends up backfiring.
