How do you decide when to retire a pair of spikes? Just curious as I've got a pair getting up there in age.

Track spikes really dont have cushion so they dont really get worn out. However, i do retire them when they rip, the plate cracks, tread wears down to nothing, or they become uncomfortable.
I made it my habit to retire my spikes every time I break a world record.
cheers.
I retire mine when the (usually) thin upper tears, or the cushion between the plate and my foot wear so thin that it feels like there is none.
