High school junior. This indoor season I ran 4:45 1600m and 10:14 3200m off of base mileage which was 45-50mpw (60mpw was highest I got) of slow easy running and tempos, and no speed workouts or intervals (I used meets as speed workouts). I would say I have okay talent considering I ran sub 17:30 5k off of less than 30mpw this xc season and I also ran 4:53 1600m and 2:08 800m last year as a sophomore during outdoor on about 15 mpw. Now that outdoor is approaching, I’m starting to add a lot more quality/speed to my training. I’m doing 6x100strides almost everyday and I’m hitting 2 speed workouts every week, as well as a 25 min tempo run @5:35/mi pace. Is it possible for me to go sub 10:00 in the 2 mile and sub 4:35 in the mile for outdoor now that i am “sharpening” myself?
