Can't believe there's not a thread on this yet. Performance of the day.
Brazier 1:45.35, puts him as the #2 American all-time indoors after Johnny Gray (1:45.00). Drew Windle 1:45.53, #3 all-time US indoors.

From an american standpoint, it was a great race. However, from a world stand point, that was pretty easy for Korir. That last lap kick was so easy for him, and he was basically out there jogging the previous laps.
I just don't see any ameircan being able to finish top 3 in the men's 800m. We have a lot of work to do.
I like Brazier, but he can't run from behind. He is at his best when front running, Boris is the same way, and that is not going to work against the africans. I guess Clayton is still our only hope, but if he is still dead on with doubling, then that is dead to.
Again, great race. But Korir made that look like a walk in the park.
UTEP based Kenyans #'s 1 and 2 in the world right now.. That's a hell of a training duo

What exactly does that mean?

World indoor medals are not good enough?

It means that the americans who ran that race are the best americans in the world running at 800m. So the americans will compete at a high level AGAINST EACH OTHER. ....but racing against the africans, not a chance in hell. So from a world's stand point, we are not on the level. So the kenyans will continue to dominate, and our only hope is bronze ( if that)

Best Americans in the world? As opposed to best Americans out of this world?

Try reading. The meet ended an hour ago.
It was televised on NBC, like it is every year. You should be able to watch a replay of it online. Just go to NBC sports, and just go to the replay section. They usually keep it up for a week or so.

damn, man. why are you goes so negative to people over the simplest thing? Guy was just asking about the race.
Congrats to him.
Hated the commercial breaks during the 3k. Vargas and Pacer in front... commercial... Completely different lineup and we didn't get to watch it happen.
Nice to see Murphy put together a decent one. For all the talk that he was done, I have a feeling it was more thecoschkng transition and lack of fitness. It sounds like he’s only seriously been back to training for less than two months. 1:46.xx off of two months is pretty good.

I really hope that is the case, because he is our best hope. He knows how to run from behind, and he has a great kick. I just hope he is done with trying to run the double, or just focus on 800m for a couple of years, and then move to 1500m.
Indoors is the only aspect of track and field athletics that I can't get into. I couldn't tell you who, or what performances, are considered good. The world indoors, to me, would be only slightly more exciting than a b or c level regional outdoor meet. And I can't even begin to wrap my mind around non-metric distances like the mile. Only two countries care about the mile.
I agree with you. I don't take much from indoors competition. It' still the offseason, and runners use it as training. People don't remember what you did indoors, or XC for that matter.
But, man, Korir made that s h i t look easy. Going down the stretch, brazier was like fock it, and slowed down his run.
Great race! My pop's record can now RIP...excited for Donavan Brazier and his career.
He is gold medal material if he peaks at the right time in 2018. There are other names too. It just seems like Korir starts off the season super well but never culminates like the world beater he ought be. This could be a 1:41-guy and who knows if better as it'll depend on the day. Bottom line is he has to time himself right.

Well, if he wants to make it on the world stage, I would hope for him that he made it look easy. 1:44 is not fast.
I meant 2020* not 2018
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
