For as long as I can remember I've loved lighter shoes. I do some of my workouts barefoot even. I never got a single pain or problem. Since I decided to bump my mileage for base and people kept telling me I'd get injured, I started using a pair of Ascis a lot more. Instantly got knee pains, my cadence felt off and after a week my foot hurt. Nevertheless I stuck to it and the pain kept getting worse. 1 1/2 weeks ago I said to hell with those shoes. I started running in Nike LT 2(a pair I've had for quite a while) I did long runs, tempos, and even started doing barefoot strides and barefoot workouts again. The result? No pain. I put down a 10 mile run in them yesterday and felt so much better than I would with those heavy shoes. Heavy shoes suck. I'll stick to racing flats.
Anybody else have a similar experience?
