I'm in the tech industry and recently I applied for a job at a startup. I got along super well with the founder, I had 2 interviews and he said he wanted to work with me (verbally and written).
The agency then said I had to take a technical test, fine, but it had 0% relevance to the language and platform that I program for and that the role was advertised for. I'm not exaggerating, 0% relevance. Very frustrating.
I took a look at the test and refused to take it, and gave them the feedback that I should be assessed on the role advertised. They then advised the founder to overlook me and pushed another candidate. I wouldn't normally sue in these cases, but I feel like the founder was a once in a lifetime mentor.
Given that the role was taken away from me solely due to negligence and incompetence on behalf of the agency, do I have a case?
