Hi all, been a reader on this forum for a while now with the odd post here and there. I'm a Brit so take it easy on me!!
I've been running for a few years now and am by no means quick compared to most on here but I am constantly improving which is what I enjoy.
PB's
5k - 17:40 Nov 17
5 Mile - 29:03 Nov 17
Half - 1:24:25 Oct 17 - longest run of the year was 10 miles prior to this.
I have entered Rome marathon in April with two aims, a GFA of 3:05 and obviously sub3. All of the predictors put me in the low 2:50's, now I know I am not a seasoned marathoner so I am hoping that 10 mins grace will save me.
I am 5 weeks into my cycle, up to and around 50mpw, don't think I will get much higher than this with work / family commitments. Plus my body is holding up pretty well so don't want to push my luck.
Long runs have been 2 16milers and 2 17.5 milers so far. 3 of these have had the last 5k as my local parkrun (timed 5k) I've managed to break 19min at all of these without pushing to the extreme. I've been up to 10 miles at 3hr MP this being the day after a XC race so with tired legs and this felt pretty easy.
So really I guess I am asking what people think my chances are of hitting my goal. I have a half in 4 weeks which I plan to run flat out but untapered, what should I aim for to indicate I am on the right track?
Also, I have 4, maybe 5 20milers planned, is this enough?
