I am a Southern Californian in my mid-30s but I've never bought a car. Settle down with the mom's basement quips; I'm professionally accomplished, own my own home, support my woman, etc. If I was sub-14 I'd be a real man... It's just that my parents have always passed down their cars (dad to mom, mom to me, like good solid Christians). They were never "car people" and they passed that lack of interest in automobiles down to me as well as their efficient, non-flashy Geos, Hondas, etc.
After the passing of the patriarch, I now will need to buy a car for the first time.
I want to buy American, but my parents always said that this country was an ishhole when it came to making cars. Buy foreign, they said. But I want to do my part for the forgotten man. I can probably afford something in the $35-45k range. Any suggestions for a fuel-efficient, durable, nice-looking American vehicle.
My current immigrant vehicle has a couple years left on it before it's overstayed its visa so I'm just starting to do my research on this.
Suggestions?
