So much racing!
That's jogging for her.
She could maybe break 4:40 by June or July if she chooses to compete in the postseason. It's doubtful but it's maybe within the realm of possibility.
That's amazing.
Dyestat still exists?
There were 29 other runners in the race. That's not solo.
Tuohy 4:43.6
2nd 4:49.1

Way to go out on a limb, especially considering she ran the equivalent of 4:38 nine months ago, when she was just another fairly fast little girl.
I would be surprised if she doesn’t break 4:35. I have seen kids cut 15 seconds from this time of year indoor to end of year outdoor. She is probably in better shape than most though and possibly too good of shape since she just finished Xc and must not have fully shut down. So if injury or burnout comes, I could be incorrect.
Yes, she is a stud. But, saw the interview, said she wants to break the "class record" in the mile at Millrose. Seems to be caught up on breaking records, instead of running well (not the same thing). Makes me wonder, still young???

Yes, having time goals for a HS runner is weird...
Wait a second...

Time goals are a fine thing to focus on, for any age. Why wouldn't they be?
More importantly, Tuohy has no competition other than time. There seems to be only one high school runner even in the same neighborhood as Tuohy, Claudia Lane. The clock is Tuohy's only opposition.

Time goals are time goals, a measure of improvement, fitness, talent, etc..
Of course that is a good thing.
The question is, shooting for records all the time, if they happen great, nice to be that good, but if they are the focus, not so great.
She split 4:45 in her 3k so whatever
You must be new. Did you even look at the splits? Would you not consider German Fernandez 8:34 at CIF solo when it had a minimum of ten other runners?

No, I would not consider his 3200m run solo.... it's not solo, even if 2nd place is 2 minutes behind.
When there is no fear of anybody beating you, it might as well be "solo".
"solo" can only mean a time trial with FAT timing according to some folks here...but they're wrong.
anyway, it looks like she ran a measured effort to get an easy PR. splits were (leading from first 200m) :
70.7 - 71.3 - 71.8 - 69.8 = 4:43.6 (unsure if these are 220yd splits or 200m with the extra 9m thrown in at beg or end).

ESPECIALLY if 2nd is 2:00 behind because it means you have lapped the entire field and have plenty of bodies to aim at from early on.

Technically you can win by 2 minutes and not lap anybody. If everybody else runs the same time and their last lap is 2:01 then you can win by 2 minutes and not lap anybody.

That's what high schoolers do. Racing is fun.
