Basically he finished a loop, went to the port-o-potty for 7 minutes and crossed the mat again. He apparently did this 3 times in 18 laps.
He has multiple fixed time wins.

Ok, this is may actually be the biggest cheating story yet. Bigger than Kip, who was a serial cheat but he was nobody. Kelly is somewhat well known name, at least in ultra-running, and I believe he coaches and otherwise his entire identity is about his ultra-running. Finally you’ve hooked a relatively big fish, reel this in!!
Good stuff, Derek, keep fighting the good fight. One request, can you please get rid of the javascript that takes over the scrolling behavior on your site - it makes it painful to use. Thanks!
I know him, and all I can say is WTF? I don't understand the motivation. It's not like these are significant events. They're barely a blip in the running world.
Big news! wrote:

He says on his Facebook that he is a full time runner, so he has managed to turn his "success" at races into a career? I have never been able to figure out how these guys make a living running, but, maybe some kind of sponsorship plus coaching?
Being caught cheating is going to be life changing for this guy, but you have to think that even though it's going to be terrible at first it has to be better to have a life that isn't built on a lie. I really hope this guy doesn't pull a Rossi and dig an unending hole of lies. Better to admit your mistakes, apologise and get your life back. While it looks like a career change is in the cards for him that's just the way it is. Apologise and move on, don't let the cheating define the rest of your life.

His name is Kelly Agnew. Why are you too frightened to say his name?

Derek tried to contact him to give him a chance to respond before publishing, but no response. It wasn't a long window to respond, but apparently Kelly started deleting things between the time that Derek tried to contact him and the time the article came out, so it seems he knew Derek was onto him.

If you knew him you would know his name.
BQ in 3:12 ...shades of Mike Rossi!

You mean the first two words in his article, i.e., the first two words shown in the preview in his post, right below the photo of the person?
He may have not actual won this race, but spending 7 minutes in a Porta-Potty at a race is a pretty impressive feat in and of itself. Those things are nasty.

Not to mention that letsrun likes to delete posts that blatantly call out names.
7 minutes at a time, apparently.
He's either cheating or he has some reallllllly tuned bathroom habits
I'm guessing his coaching business is going to go down the tubes now.
What a shame that the RD didn't film him coming out of the toilet!

It looks like his actual marathon PR is 3:48 at the Boston Marathon...instead of his claimed 3:12 Boston marathon QUALIFIER which got him into the Boston marathon.
He ran a 3:48 at Boston which is probably his real marathon PR.
All of his other marathons are over 4 hours.
It is incredible that a cheater with a 3:48 marathon PR has a sponsorship with Hammer Nutrition.
Hammer Nutrition needs to contact Ms. Amy Hughes right now for an UltraWorldMarathonRecordHolder™ sponsorship:

Agreed. The video, and ideally videos of him doing it multiple times, would have
1. been priceless.
2. remove any possible excuses he could make.
3. eliminate the possibility of legal ramifications should this a-hole try to retaliate with an AOL.com attorney aka Rossi.
Without video, it's RD's word vs a-hole. I love that the RD stripped him of all prior wins but he's putting himself at risk for a defamation lawsuit.
That would be Jamil Coury

No. There's no doubt here. It's over for Kelly.
This is what the timer, Mike Melton, posted on the ultralist. Incidentally you might remember Bill Schultz and Mike Dobies as two of the "geezers" who helped bust Rob Young in 2016.
--------
This is the part of my job that I like the least - keeping honest runners honest and holding those who are not honest accountable for their actions. It was with no joy, and with great sadness, that I informed ATY RDs Jamil Coury and Jubilee Paige what I had seen, and they took prompt and decisive action. The process Kelly used at ATY to circle around and come back through the timing mat without having done a complete loop was so blatant and obvious it could not possibly have been anything but deliberate. No one would have claimed he or she had done a valid lap had this happened to him or her. I very carefully watched the entire process as it happened, without looking away or being distracted, and there's no doubt as to Kelly's actions. The missing timing data at the far timing mat merely confirmed with additional evidence what I had witnessed personally.
We (me and my fellow timing monkeys Bill Schultz and Mike Dobies, who both were of tremendous help throughout the entire race) did have several runners come to us in a state of confusion, not knowing which direction they had been going when they stopped for their break, and in each case we were able to look at the timing data and determine without question which direction the runner needed to proceed. This is VERY different than trying to add valid laps without actually running them.

.
A video would have been entertaining as hell. I also think, especially for many of the Rossi thread people, a person caught cheating on video would have been cathartic. People are pretty sick of cheaters denying it even though there is no doubt they cheated. Still, it’s nice there were witnesses so there really won’t be any of that ongoing denial crap.
