That record was held by Daniela Fetcere, who had run 9:10, the summer before that (at age 14). Her lifetime best ended up being 9:10 outdoor and 9:15 indoor. She is 27 now and I don't see any results from her past age 16.

Tuohy has thinned out a lot since last year. It looks like she gained muscle but lost a decent amount of body fat. Not sure thats what a high school sophomore should be doing. Her uniform bottoms fit last year and don't this year. But, when you up mileage, do crazy hard workouts, swim for cross training and lift, your not giving your body enough to mature and do what it needs to do so you can have a long career. Welcome to NYS. BE fast now, why wait. Blame college coach when they don't get faster. Repeat with next new runner.
Don't you think this is a little cynical? As far as I can see, her coaches are very conscious about not over-racing her.
Hopefully, Tuohy could have a career more in line with Lydia Cheromei. Lydia holds the outdoor 3000m world best for 15 year old of 8:51 (Two years prior to that, at age 13, she was running 33:20 for 10,000m on the track). She ended up being a 2 time Olympian. Medalist at world XC champs. Ran bests of 8:29 and 14:46. She was also running PBs on the road 20 years later at age 35 (1:07.26 half marathon).
Is that Kenyan age?

Are you implying that Lydia was older when she ran 8:51, which could explain that she was not a child phenom (unlike Daniela) and thus was able to have a running career (unlike Daniela) that spanned 20 years?
Zola, Daniela did not enjoy such a long career.

Interestingly, Budd, who has the age 16, 17 and 19 records ended up running faster than Lydia over 3000m (8:28) and was also an Olympian. However, her career was not as long.
Tuohy could follow Budd's or Lydia's path and be satisfied with her career.
Just the latest installment in Letruns 'great white hope' series (the high school girl edition). Last episode featured Mary Cain. How'd that story end?

Or maybe your post is a reflection of seeing too many things through your own racist prism.

Two things:
1) Letsrun forum was a huge fan of Ajee Wilson coming up and continues to support Sydney McLaughlin. So no, it's not 'great white hope' it's 'great American hope.'
2) Mary Cain's story hasn't ended yet. She's still only 21, she'd be a junior or senior in NCAA.

You forgot Grace Ping, Al*na H*dley
You're right - she ran that indoor 3k a year ago - 9:14 - while enduring poplitel artery entrapment syndrome - gonna attack that 3k when shes back to fitness - OR published track preview - may or may not be competing this year.

Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
