What? Shaquille Walker would rather be a dentist than an Olympic medallist and Danny Mackey thinks he could have set the AR?

Just to be clear, I am not aware of some list of careers that the church encourages its members to go into. Im just speaking as a member myself, we are counseled to serve others and prayerfully make decisions like marriage and career choices, wherever that brings us. No one cares

So he doesn’t have an undergrad degree? He’s looking 2-3 yrs before he can start school. Should have kept his day job while finishing his degree, studying for the DAT and applying.

I’ve got a acquaintance. Absolute drunk and degenerate. He drank 6 days a week and skied 5 days a week. He easily finished dental school with little effort. I don’t see what’s so admirable about the career choice. Like cool. He’s chosen a profession but it’s nothing to praise him over. It’s certainly an easier and road more traveled than pursuing athletics. His life. His choices. But again nothing to see here. Move on.

Sounds like he just doesn’t want to run/train anymore and that’s okay.

Should just admit it tho. Not try to cover it up with a career when you don’t even have an undergrad yet.

Also sounds like he was having a lot of trouble with the wife.

Which retiring from running will not fix. Long term.

He says he loves the sport, he doesn’t. And it’ stands out for the entire article . Just don’t see why he kept running or even signed a contract to run professionally

You're white aren't you? Easy for all the white people to tell the black man to keep on being an athlete instead of pursuing a professional degree. He probably gets the police called on him every time he tries to run out in residential neighborhoods in Utah. Being a dentist, doesn't put an end to that, but it offers him hope of a little more insulation from the tribulations black males face in American society. Ask your black friends (if you have any) - no not the ones you know from the track team - your black professional friends.

Mom is Mexican. Dad is Syrian. I wish I was black then the president wouldn’t be trying to deport both sides of my family. Fortunatley despite the odds I scored a 1600 on the SAT, attended an elitist east coast college, and am now a smug liberal snowflake that looks down on dentists and wishes I had half the talent required to be pro T&F athlete.

I think it would have been better if Danny Mackey left Brooks to become a Dentist instead of Shaquille.
