What is the difference between the Nike zoom victory elite 2 and the Nike zoom victory 3, also what spike would you say is better in your opinion
The elite 2 has an internal carbon fiber shank (similar to the one in the victory xc 3) and a stiffer plate than the victory 3. Other than the difference in stiffness and maybe weight (not sure how they compare in weight), the victory elite 2 and victory 3 look and fit identically. The vic 3 is more versatile, while the elite 2's stiffness makes it a specialist spike for shorter distance events, though I've seen some runners wear the elite 2 up to the 5000m and even on 5k XC courses.
PLEASE NOTE that the old colorways of the elite 2 and matumbo 3 have non-removable spike pins, while newer colorways have removable spike pins. All victory 3s have removable spike pins. Having removable pins makes a spike just a tad heavier than its fixed-pin counterpart. People have different favorites between the elite 2 and vic 3 depending on their prefered race distance and personal preference.
If you want to buy just one spike, I'd buy the victory 3 since it's a great versatile spike, especially from 800 to 3200.
If you can afford it, I'd recommend using a combo of 2 spikes- one for shorter races like the 800/1600 and one for longer like the 3200. This spring, I'll be using the elite 2 for 800/1600 and the matumbo 3 for the 3200/5000. You could also use the elite 2 for shorter distances and vic 3 for longer distances, or vic 3 for short and matumbo 3 for long. Just depends on the person.
In case you're familiar with the original victory elite, the elite 2 is stiffer than the elite 1, especially the back 1/3 of the shoe. The elite 2 plate is only slightly stiffer than the original elite. The vic3,elite2,tumbo3 fit more snug the previous models. I wear the same size in the elite2/vic 3 as I do in Nike trainers. To me, the elite 2/vic 3 also feels a bit more supportive than the elite 1/vic 2.
Also, before you buy any of these, definitely check ebay (ideally, look for new listings daily for a few days), I recently snagged the elite 2 for $30 ;)
(yeah I probably gave a lot more info than you needed but, being a shoe geek, I couldn't help it lmao)
Hey, I found this post really helpful! However, I was wondering if you could compare the stiffness and responsiveness of the Victory 3 to the Victory Elite? I'm coming from a Victory Elite and am choosing between the Victory Elite 2 and Victory 3. Thanks!
Hello, very helpful post. Which colours are the new colours and which are the old?
The Adidas Avanti 2s are superior, seriously. I'm 2 seconds quicker over 1500m compared with the Victorys. Gebrhiwet wears them that is why he is so good.
