1. You have a car payment and think that's normal
2. You live from Thank-God-It's-Friday to Oh-God-It's-Monday
3. You use a credit card to get "points" and "miles" (haha, so cute!)
Any more?

1.) Absolutely...last two cars I got 0% interest. I'd be a fool to tie up my money in the car at that rate.
2.) Yes! I've got money, but it doesn't mean that I don't like my weekends. My free time is more fun than my job.
3.) Why not...people throw free things at me, I don't turn them down!

No idea who you are or what your income is, but I'll guarantee you and I are closer together than you are to a 1 percenter. So it sounds like a lot of self loathing going on in your world.
you buy a home on less than 20% down payment
you don't max out your 401K
you have an emergency fund, and think that's all you need
you validate your minimal net worth by your ridiculous obsession with travel
you don't pay for your kids college
your wife is involved in an MLM scam

Ha! And how many listeners does your radio show have? More than 13 million?

Don't worry. There's a lot more where this came from.

Regarding 3, how else should I pay for things? Use a debit card where the consequences if the number gets stolen is a lot worse? Checks?

I have no doubt.
Your day is so unoccupied that you spend your free time posting non-running topics on a running message board.
You anxiously wait for the measly few hundred thousand that your boomer parents may or may not leave you.
Related: even before the funeral, you're bargaining with your family about who gets what from your parents' house.
(assuming your parents weren't abusive, both of these are so incredibly shameful)
is such a cuc&.
Seriously bro, I feel sorry for any cuc& that feels the need to base their self worth off the number of dollars in their bank account, mutual funds, 401k, stocks & bonds. Congrats, you work rigorously (or daddy worked rigorously) to provide you extra zeros to twiddle your thumbs over. The sad fact is you're probably miserable enough to have to come onto a running forum and project your insecurities to the rest of us.
Quit projecting your own value and just live your miserable life.
A sad sign that you are lower middle class and always will be is that you follow Dave Ramsey's advice. People with money don't do the stuff he pushes. His advice is pretty good for that undisciplined working class guy who needs some pointers to get over the hump to the middle class. Most of them don't make it.
There's a ton of hostility here, but I think this is a worthwhile thread, especially for the demographics of this forum, since there's ostensibly a big population of people here who both want to and might have the opportunity to escape the bone grinding rat race of American capitalism: a guidebook for what not to do, if you will.

Truth, but it's also good advice for the undisciplined white collar guy, of which there are a ton.
Some better resources for what *to* do (other than make a lot of money):

Your debit card has the exact. same. fraud protections as a credit card. Do some research!
