If my 70 something lady neighbour kept going to and from the shops in a day could that count as a marathon

his 2nd marathon is now on strava, in miami. this one took him 25 mins longer than the 1st - 5:04.
other than the fact that marathons are only marathons if they are organised races, the slower he gets, the less he can say he is "running the world". i mean, 11:36 average pace, he'll be walking them from start to finish by the end of the week.
To be fair was he running in a group. Then you could justify slowing so people could keep up.
Could be a long 196 countries for Nick. Got a feeling someone hasn't prepared properly for this challenge.
Is Butter update?
Any news on latest jog?
I can give a perspective having run with Nick a number of times. He is genuine and is faking nothing I can assure you of that. He just wants to run and set records and I'm afraid he can't do much about what journalists or others write about him and how they can exaggerate the truth sometimes.
Nick truly is one of the nicest and most genuine people you could ever meet and I truly encourage each and every one of you to take time to run with him and see what a bloody nice bloke he is. If you haven't run with him and haven't taken the time to do so I don't think you can comment negatively. If you have integrity then go and track him down and run a few miles.
Please don't be negative towards him and just run and see what he really is all about. You will be very surprised at what a lovely guy he is and how genuine he is. Think how negativity affects you in a race and how if you had lots of people on the side of the road calling you a fraud and a charlatan, don't tell me you wouldn't be upset by it.
It's too easy to write bad stuff and hide behind a keyboard. Get out there and run some miles, record them and try to actually get behind something in a positive way rather than taking the easy negative route.
Don't go ballistic at me either as I'm just writing my perspective on things and just like you I'm entitled to my opinion. I have the integrity and security in the knowledge that I have actually run with Nick and have seen what he can do.
Yes I realise I haven't posted on here before but I saw this rotten thread in a Facebook group and couldn't sit by and just let this go.
I am not a fool either and saw through the entire Rob Young fraud and I can assure you that this is definately not the case with Nick Butter. The two are completely different. Rob was looking for attention and money of that there is no doubt. Nick is looking to beat demons and to prove to himself that he can do these amazing things and to inspire children.
I have seen him talk in classrooms and listened to his story and he is magnetic and inspirational. How many of you take the time to inspire kids and others and truly want to make a difference in people's lives. I'm sure many of you do but equally I'm sure there are some who delight in nocking people at any opportunity.
Is this Nick's mom again??
I think the main issue isn't that people think he's cheating by riding a bike, etc, but the fact he has asked for an enormous amount of money on Gofundme, and has raised very little for the charity in comparison.
The bragging lies about marathons done and race times is from HIM on HIS website, not from journalists!
HE lies he's done 314 marathons.
HE lies about his race times.
Nick wants to be famous and get attention.
"Inspire children"!!!! LOL.
He wants celeb status and book deals and public speaking engagements.
No one cares if he's "nice". Okay? We just don;t care that you met him and was nice.
Rob Young was "nice". So is Larry Macon.
Most con men are "nice"! It's how they con money out of people!!!
Oh the endless cry that we shouldn't say a word because WE aren't doing this run.
Like no one is allowed to question anything unless we TOO have scammed a load of public money to do this trip.
I'm not in America. Am I supposed to fly to another country and run with him, and if I can't, I'm not allowed to question what he's up to by asking on a computer?
I have asked him questions and he won't answer - just fobs you off.
I rather suspect you ARE NIck.....As I've not seen this thread posted anywhere on Facebook, only sent to Nick in private.
Never ever takes Lets Run members as fools Nick. We are watching you, and watching how much you raise for charity in total.
It's not a "rotten thread".
What IS rotten is scamming the public to pay thousands of dollars for a very expensive holiday by leading them into thinking you will raise a quarter of a million for charity, when the reality so far is that you/him have raised peanuts.
I understand the need for proof and that timing is important when trying to determine ability. I also realise that Nick has seemingly come from nowhere and rocked the ultra world with his achievements and all this without a coach, sponsorship of any real note and on what would be considered by many experts as a bad diet. However this works for him and why is he wrong. Maybe a change of approach is needed and a little understanding.
I don't get how some people can run on bananas and others on fruit alone but if that's their thing then good luck to them.
I don't get how Killian Journet can smash the times and races he does but I love it and respect it.
I will ask to see if I can get some definate details for you to try to satisfy he doubters.

You are again missing the point.
It's not so much people don't think he's capable of doing this running holiday, but that he's wanting it PAID for, when not raising much for charity, and has lied so much.
He refuses to say where these 314 marathons were and has lied about every marathon time.
So get full details of where these marathons were plus watch data.
He won't tel us.
Did anyone mention his diet? No one gives a toss what he eats!
It's so obvious you are Nick or a member of his team!
Seriously Nick, do NOT even SPEAK the name Killian Journet as a comparison to yourself in any capacity. You have NOT "rocked the ultra world"!! No ultra runner has a clue who you are!
You are a total nobody!
I'm afraid I am genuine and not Nick or any of his team. I'm just a runner who coaches a little.
What sort of evidence would you like or would you prefer to lose money. Now that would be great entertainment for me!

And yet you know so much about this guy that no one has ever heard of before this. You even know what he eats. And you do sound like you must be his mother.
>Nick is looking to beat demons and to prove to himself that he can do these amazing things and to inspire children.
Gag me. He is looking to get other people to pay for an expensive, long, awesomely epic holiday. More power to him if he can pull it off. Please, I beg you, please stop with the "for the children" tripe. Every stunt grifter says that and everyone sees through it. You're not helping your case with that nonsense.

Really? I thought I was up on the ultrarunning world. How'd I miss this guy rocking it?
What races did he win?

Rocked the ultra world. He hasn't achieved anything of note and U doubt many of the ultra runners have heard of him.
You'd really have to search to make a donation to the charity. His site is just straight to a gofundme. Probably most people donating are not even aware of him.
Aware that the money is going to him and not the charity.

I think you are deluded, maybe all this Trump stuff has warped your minds. some people are genuine
Inspiring the children... LOL. Where did I hear that before?
Nick, you are a scammer. Remember, charity fraud is a crime which could land you in prison.
Nick's gift is the ability to run very long distances day in and day out. I can't see why there is so much focus on 10k times or 5k times. How on earth does this really matter when you can run crazy distances again and again. I realise that according to the books and calculators that if you can run a 10k in a certain time that this should correlate to a predicted marathon time. But how on earth does that have any relevance when you are running across a country and trying to beat an established record.

Look, you obviously know all about the guy, down to his diet.
So you are either Nick or out there with him.
He has asked for a small fortune from the public who were led to believe helping pay for the trip would raise $250, 000 for charity.
It's hardly raised pennies so far compared to the Gofundme.
So Nick, as I've already asked you on facebook, please name these 314 marathons, marathons that YOU yourself claim you did on YOUR website.
You refused to say, and just muttered something about showing me your "scrapbook" some time.
Hey, I'm an ultra runner. I record my races on a running watch and the results are officially listed.
So WHERE are your 314 results?
And as an ultra runner I have never heard of you - you are unknown in the ultra world.
And why have you lied about ALL your marathon times?
And as for Trump, I'm in the UK.

We don't really care about his 5 or 10k times, unless he's lied about those times too, like he lied about marathon PR's.
You aren't addressing any of the issues we raise, but just swerve the conversation off on a tangent.
When has Nick run "very long distances day in and day out." ?
Even if he could, that doesn't explain fleecing the public for thousands of dollars whilst raising not a lot for the charity.
Can we have all the info on his 300 plus marathons please?

so his general dishonesty and using crowdfunding to pay for this trip doesnt bother you?
dont lie about your achievements and raise more money for charity rather than for yourself and this thread wouldnt exist.
....or at least it would be a hell of a lot smaller.
