WITH POWELLS GONE, BRODEY HASTY FLIPS FROM OREGON TO NAU

It's refreshing to see Clinger run for his school and win TWICE at Nxn. Then he finishes high as a freshman at NCAA this year. But he knows life is more than running so he will take a year off to pursue something his calling. That's a stud. Some guy who disses his high school coach, delays committing to college because he is enjoying the attention, and continues to train with a private coach and run "select races" instead of high school events is not worthy of the attention. Could Clinger transfer anywhere when he comes back from his mission? I think that Oregon has had some LDS runners over the years.

1. He didn't diss his highschool coach, he kept his coach when the school changed coaches, because the new coach supposedly didn't even organize summer practices (not sure about that, but that's what I heard), and, when you are a talent like him, I would keep the same coach (don't fix what isn't broken)

2. Maybe he had to take a while to make an important decision and then decided to be lighthearted about how long it took him in his announcement?

3. If by "select races" you mean run the only races that allow independent runners, than sure. Most races require an affiliation with a highschool

Funny how bent of shape people get when some truth is spoken on here. You don't have a clue about high school running and the influence that private coaches and 200k scholarships are having on the sport. When someone speaks their opinion, you pretend to take the high road and call me an asshat. You are the douche on this one. And a naive douche. I have a feeling you have not had a kid involved in high school running lately and the dynamics of paid private coaches and public schools. Good luck master asshat.

The structure of HS running is changing. It is moving in the direction of private coaching. It is becoming more acceptable.

I think you are an asshat because you seem to have a personal issue with Brodey Hasty himself and the private coach. Majority of your comments indicate that. Everyone has their own view and certainly conversation/discussions are always welcome by me. Yours are venomous and have an agenda. Just pointing that out.

But realize , and I’m not in anyway suggesting this in this case, but depression and suicide amongst hs and college age athletes is on the rise. Several posters don’t even realize how they could be attributing to that with their posts regarding young people.

So no, I’m not pretending to take the high road. I’m looking out for the well-being of our youth and our sport.

His goal was to do exactly what Hunter did. Instead, he pulled out to go to Nau instead of pro because he didn’t quite get there.

Isn't it odd that he didn't follow the Powells to UW?

He never really intended to attend Oregon. He was always looking for a pro deal which didn’t materialize. He got a small deal at NAU which was better than the nondeal at Oregon.

Glad this is over. I knew he would transfer just to create more drama. Into the fire Hasty. Hope you enjoy running against all of the collegiate runners who are sub 4 milers already. Good luck.
