I would not be shocked if this young man found himself as a freshman in the middle of the pack at NCAA cross country. That is one tough race and hardly a harbinger for the future. Not a unique circumstance, even for top level runners.
Having watched him run, though, I think he will be a very, very good 5000m runner very early on. The kid has wheels, and is very strong.
That is very fair to say. It is a big jump that freshman year for men in xc.
My comment is directed more to the derogatory comments and put downs of athletes and coaches on this board by a few posters.
Although, the reality is that they make themselves appear immature and frankly asshats as someone else pointed out.
