Grammar and spelling on LRC

The reason people are making mistakes is not from "being in a rush" or "typing quickly." I love that lame excuse. No matter how rushed I am, I don't suddenly forget how a word is spelled.

You spell a word wrong because you don't know how to spell the word. You don't need to make up a lie to cover up for your ignorance.

No, it’s usually typing quickly. But you seem like a cool guy. I especially likE how angry and pedantic you come off in your posts. Great job! Super cool. Did that capital E set you off? If so, you’re right to think you’re amazing.

I believe the OP's point is; who cares? Its an internet message board. Its not a college essay. Its not a job application. Its a medium where you share ideas with people you will most likely never meet, and you're just doing it to entertain yourself and pass the time.

I would have to disagree. I believe the OPs point was, "I want to make a new rule around here that people should stop correcting grammar and spelling errors, because it triggers me."

The Danes have some silent g's, the Nordskis have a lot of hard g's, the Swedes and Icelanders have a mix of silent, soft and hard g's. Somebody made a grammar error somewhere in history!

There grammar makes me loose my mind.

Wow, I would of never thought of that. I mean, I would have never thought of... but you know, I was typing quickly, so I forgot my grammar.

It is not only acceptable, but prudent, to call attention to grammatical errors in posts that attempt to condescend to another poster. Irony can and should be appreciated in all its forms.

In everyday posts, pointing out simple errors is rather annoying, yes... but... I rarely see this done.

I'm also want to stop the 'bump' and 0-10 trolls posts to.

AND when it appears at least reasonably likely that the poster does not understand the error being pointed out (there v their, too v to, it's v its,...). The Grammar terrorist in this instance is doing the poster a favor by attempting to help him/her learn. If the poster gets all bent out of shape at the correction, that is they're problem.

The point is that if you can just write correctly in an informal setting it will be a hell of a lot easier to do it when it actually matters.

The brojos are a classic case of general laxity pervading the important stuff.

This is an *informal* discussion forum....who really cares. Posters who point out grammatical errors are simply jerks who didn't like the the post in the first place. It's their way of being condescending or else they're an unemployed teacher. ?
