Can anyone speak to Kenyon College at all? as well as the program?

Don't know anything about the program but their athletics facilities / indoor track, etc are absolutely beautiful.
Kenyon is a good school. As for their track and cross country teams, they aren't too great and if you are considering a small school in Ohio, I would recommend Mount Union or College of Wooster. What events do you run?
OP... Kenyon is a unique school. They have a good academic reputation; a visit would be a good plan to get your own feel for the student body, the coaches, and the school. As others have previously said, Kenyon has good facilities; I would add that they also have a lengthy bike trail system nearby (the 10+ mile Kokosing Gap Bike trail is just south of campus, and connects to the Heartland Trail). Coach Gomez has been there forever, and in the past had some unique ideas on training. They have had some solid individual runners over the years, particularly on the women's side.
Also... I know people well that have run for both Mt. Union and Wooster. Those are two VERY different programs.
The 5 mile section of trail from the trail head in Mt Vernon to just past the college is the best I have found in the state. Fairly accurate markers every 1/2 mile. I have done a lot of tempo runs and 1/2 mile intervals on that section of trail. The whole trail is about 12.5 miles but you can now link up to the Heart of Ohio trail which is 16 miles. You can also go through Danville and get on the Mohican valley trail for another 5 miles to Brinkhaven. Eventually this trail will get linked up so you can go from Cincinnati to Cleveland.
Nice place: where is the Kokosey River?
It's the Kokosing River. It is in Knox County. Kokosing is an Indian word for owl.
And 90% of Kenyon College students are third generation East coast rich kids. And I mean RICH. Very old money. Their parents went to Kenyon and their parents went to Kenyon and their parents went to Kenyon. Kind of a good old boys club, honestly. It is a nitch school and unless you fit the mold, you'd probably be very uncomfortable there.
If you didn't pay $300 for your Italian penny loafers, you probably don't belong there.
Just sayin'.
But Knox county is BEAUTIFUL! Rolling hills, country farms, forests, quaint little towns, Amish. It really is nice.

Please explain the differences?
Good Academically. Not a great cross or track program. If you come from a good high school program then you’re likely going to be taking a step backwards.
There is absolutely nothing out there. The school is in the definition of middle of nowhere. The facilities are incredible and the campus/surrounding area is beautiful. Students were planning Sunday morning trips to drive 45 minutes to IHOP.

Not true. Mount Vernon has a lot going on and is less than 10 min drive from Gambier. Mount Vernon has lots of chain restaurants and coffee shops, etc. Sure, if you must have IHOP, it's a drive, but there's plenty of other similar places nearby.

Kenyon is one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. They also give full financial need, so depending on your family income, it can be very affordable to go there if you are admitted.
Kenyon's sports are dominated by swimming and diving.
The campus is beautiful.
They have one of the best English departments in the country.

+ unlike most small lib arts, Kenyon has frats & a version of typical frat azzwipes.
go to Oberlin or Grinnell or Macalester instead.
Kenyon averages 32 on the ACT and costs over $70,000. 78% of the student body is full pay.

See my post above. Kenyon = very, very, very rich, East coast, old money families. You go there because Daddy went there.
I visited back in the day. Beautiful place in the middle of woods, great academics, huge proportion of students used to go on to graduate school, and their swim teams used to win virtually every D3 national title.

+1. I don't have a problem with fraternities but I believe students are better off with regards to small colleges somewhere without fraternities. Exceptions would be somewhere like Williams.
That said, not sure I would recommend Oberlin either. I considered attending but am glad I did not. Thinking of a couple years ago when they were embroiled in some sort of ludicrous political-correctness brewhaha.
A couple of years ago? Try now / all of the time.
