Hello, this is my first time posting on this forum however I have seen posts on here with helpful information.
To start off, I am 18 years old, and have a PB of 2:05 in the 800m open. Indoor track for me begins like February 7th or something, and I am unsure of what to do for my training. In years past, I would finish XC and not run until track rolls around again. I’ve not done very high mileage either, as I think my coach has us follow a more speed based program. If I had to guess, I’d approximate 25 mpw - if that.
The past two weeks I’ve been running 6 miles 6 days a week topping with a LR of only 8 miles on saturdays. Should I continue to build a base and increase my mileage? I’ve been going easy each day for the most part along with lifting AM on tuesdays and thursdays. I’ve not done any speed work yet and I am curious as to when I should add that as well with intervals.
