Two main points:
1. If intervals are either supposed to simulate race pace or faster, isn't a jog recovery essentially "junk mileage" that will hamper your ability to do the next repetition at the desired pace? And if it doesn't, why not just cut down the recovery time so you can get off the track sooner, or add another repeat to really focus on that desired pace?
2. There's no consistency in pacing - someone might consider 8 minutes an easy jog and others might consider 16 minutes an easy jog. While tracking times may not matter for most runs, intervals are supposed to simulate certain paces, so timing in all aspects of the session should be important.
A walk or standing recovery seems to be better considering this. Is there any science behind why jog recoveries are beneficial?
