If their study used only size ten shoes, then they didn't supply runners with ideal shoes to begin with, as most buy two pairs of shoes to compete, as most people have feet that about a half size different.
So if you needed a pair to compete, you buy a pair for one size 10 shoe, and another pair for one size 10.5 shoe...
