Not sure if you’re serious or not, but he said he ran a 2:40 or something at Grandma’s Marathon, but was fact-checked and I believe it was actually over 4 hours. Kind of like his expectation that tax cuts for the rich are going to end up helping us working class people.

Good run for Nick Symmonds, especially considering the lack of training. His longest run was 15 miles and on his posts and vlogs he rarely did runs faster than the pace he ran for the marathon. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with a more traditional marathon buildup, but he’s retired and his main goal was to run this not as a pro, but as a normal marathoner. This was definitely a good way for him to have fun in retirement and promote Run Gum by being relatable and running a time that isn’t crazy for someone his age. Hopefully he will run a spring marathon.

I was gonna bring this up but I doubt many people here know Ryan. Basically, he's a mid-15 guy in HS and ran 18:30ish for the 8k in college. 4:15 miler. Anyways, he quit for 2-3 months, resumed training for 10 days, and ran 2:56 (2:59 officially but it was a long course) while talking to his college buddy on a bike the whole way, smiling and waving while it was live streamed.

Do people always think that their garmin is the end all be all on a CERTIFIED course? Tangents (and not taking them) add up over 26.2 miles. Also, why are we applauding 6:5x pace?

18:30 for 8k! That's WAY FASTER than the WR! He should be running like a 1:45 marathon.

He could have done this with NO training. Man can run sub 4 min mile. Did you idiots really think he can't jog 3 hours for a marathon?

But he didn't break three-hours. 4:25 under BQ may not get him in Boston next year.

Man is also around 160 (?) pounds and had 47 second quarter ability.

The physical traits that allow someone to become an elite mid distance runner generally hurt one's ability to put up high level marathon times.

3:00 seems like a pretty decent result for Symmonds.

It was 4. Slower than Palin.

3 hours is 70th? You'd be much further down the field with that time in most big marathons.
