Been diving into the Garmin 935 (and I think this is avail on other Garmin versions too) "Training Effect" and "Training Status" tools. Intriguing, but I'm not sure I'm following the logic, in spite of watching their videos and doing some reading online. Anyone out there have this dialed in w/ their training?
Example, this AM, I did 12 x 400's on the Treadmill w/ limited (but walking) recovery (77 sec w/ equal recovery - nothing like some of you fast folks but not bad for a 51 yr old coming back from foot injury :-)), along with a nice 20 min warm-up and 10 warm-down. Tough session that about did me in. Yet, the Anaerobic training effect was a moderate 3.3 (low end of "improving") and the aerobic training effect was a 2.9 ("maintaining"). Seemed odd based on RPE/effort level and post-session fatigue.
Similarly, the Training Status actually went DOWN after today's session. Yesterday was an easy trail run, yet, their little graph bumped up more after that session than today's high intensity, difficult session.
Looks like it could be a good tool - if I understood it. Any suggestions? Thanks all!
