What would a base week look like if one combined both Lydiard marathon phase and Tinnman training philosophy?
What would a base week look like if one combined both Lydiard marathon phase and Tinnman training philosophy?
A long run, with some tempo effort on the end
A day of 1k CV reps plus a few 200s at mile feel on
Mileage days that aren't too fast.
Tempo run at threshold pace (marathon pace) again with perhaps a few 200s on the end.
If it were marathon training specifically, then there may only be 1 workout and it would be a LONG workout.
So for a 5k/10k specific runner a week would look like:
Sunday 2 hours at a Tinnman tempo pace
Monday am hour easy pm hour easy
Tues am hour easy pm 100m x 6 plus 1k x 5 plus 200m or 300m x 6
Wend same as Monday
Thurs am easy pm hour steady over hills
Fri am easy pm 100m x 6, mile x 4, plus 6 x 200m
Saturday same as Monday
where can you find tinnmans training links? serious question...and lydiard...Im curious to see how they do things and Ive seen their names thrown around alot on this message board. please direct me.
