Have had relatively minor back pain, on and off, for about 20 years now. This, however, is a whole different level of torture I could not wish on anyone. Could not walk without doubling over for 6 days. Going on 3 weeks now and slowly getting better, but still in a lot of pain overnight that I am taking pain-killers for. Sucking down Aleve during the day like candy. Doc says I "strained" my L5, but no MRI done yet. I'm skeptical. The thought of running 1 step makes me cringe and I am 1/10th of the man I used to be.
To those who have dealt with this: how long does it generally last and did any of you make it back to a pain-free, running full lifestyle. If so, how? I am walking when I can, stretching and doing the exercises, but don't see much difference in my day to day pain. Thanks in advance.
